Re: My Husband
Thank you for asking. He is doing okay, he is progressing as he should. The drug wipes him out, I think it is too much for him. We did contact the doctor however, he is on vacation until the end of the month. March 30th hub goes for a check up and hopefully will have the staples removed.
too funny, Tomorrow is bath day. Hub is not permitted to shower for three weeks. Bath day consists of sitting in a tub of water about two inches and doing the best you can with what you have to work with.

Re: My Husband
Being wiped out is kinda of a mixed blessing, it sucks for what it is but it also helps to keep from overdoing it and hindering the healing process. Be sure to take good care of yourself as well.

I hope all continues to go well for you both.

Re: My Husband
Thanks for asking about my hubby-his was measured in January 3.7 - they usually won't get surgery until it gets to around a five. So here they watch them closely to see if it continues to balloon. I know, I worry all the time as I know how serious the condition is. I am so glad your hubby is doing well. My husband just turned 66-

Re: My Husband
When my husband returned home from the hospital he came equipped with a blood pressure monitor. He takes his blood pressure three times a day. We have watched it continually rise and today I thought to myself, my dear you are in stroke range. It was 202/116. Monday cannot come soon enough, the doctor will be back and an appointment has been set up for Monday afternoon. I do not know what has caused this increase in blood pressure; all I can think of is it is the medication. I will know more Tuesday morning, hopefully.

Re: My Husband
I don't know what his diet is like, but if you think he's had too much sodium or you notice bloating, that could cause a problem, too. Potassium helps with that, and there's a lot of potassium in a baked potato if you eat the skin. If his doctor hasn't restricted his diet or already prescribed him potassium it may be worth trying. Considering what he's been through I'm very concerned for his BP to be so high.
Re: My Husband
Bananas have alot of potassium also, as does orange juice. That BP is very high, i would get him to the ER.

Re: My Husband
I believe she's several hour from an ER. If so, that's a long way to travel for an already sick man. Is there a doctor you could speak with on the phone? Someone to let you know if he should go the hospital or if there's something you can do at home? Because Erin's right. He should have medical help.
Re: My Husband
Oh, my! I will keep everyone's husbands in my hearts and prayers for recoveries. Something of this kind, hits home with me. Tim's father passed of an aneurysm. He waited too long to get his checked out and for surgery. I am going to keep everyone in my prayers and trax, I hope the blood pressure goes down and gets at a safe rate.
Re: My Husband
That is high Trax, it could be the medication but it is still rather high. Google his meds and see if high blood pressure is a symptom of sorts. But if it continues to rise a long trip back to the hospital may be the best way to go.
Re: My Husband
I will keep him (and you) in my thoughts and prayers! Hopefully his pressure comes down soon!

Re: My Husband
Yes, we are quite a drive from a hospital but we have called the doctors to no avail - both are on vacation and due to arrive in on Monday.
Diet - bananas daily. No salt or processed foods. He does not have much of an appetite, however, I was baking cupcakes the other day and didn't even have the icing on and he asked for one...go figure!
He gets terribly frustrated (I can understand that) because he sees the numbers on the rise and you have to know with that, he wonders...what is next? I try to be as positive as I can, try to be calm, understanding, and pleasant in this bad, fallen situation.
Monday is just around the corner, like spring. I hope for the best and do my best - that is all I can do at the moment.
Thank you all for your thoughts and well wishes - it is heartwarming and a comfort to know you folks care.

Re: My Husband
I'm really shocked the doctors don't have a service to back them up when they are on vacation. I hope all goes well for you both. Monday must seem like ages away.

Re: My Husband
Do not be shocked, Lucky. Where we reside, hell to have a baby you have to travel two hours. There is a doctor in the village, however, with the nature of the situation, they do not want to muck around with medication. Being as Monday is near and great news - the monitor registered a decrease - three times in a row - we have opted to wait until tomorrow. Because my husband is unable to drive, his son will be taking him to the appointment. It will be a long day for both. I thought earlier this morning, god - what if they keep him in the hospital. I quickly regained and said to myself - it is the best place for him, I hope.
Thank you, again - all. Your thoughts and well wishes do not go unnoticed.

Re: My Husband
Oh Trax! It's wonderful that it's now going down and not up. Even if it's just by a little bit, that must be such a relief. I will keep you both in my prayers.
There are parts of the USA that have the same doctor situation, with long drives to get care. But mostly it is because many doctors are re-thinking treating high risk patients or delivering babies because the malpractice insurance is so high. Even a doctor who has never been sued will have trouble affording it for high-risk situations. But that is what happens when people are so eager to take someone to court, which in turn is a natural reation when you are being charged outrageously for basic services and when doctors do not admit their mistakes honestly and apologize. Here in Kentucky, our Veteran's hospital was the first in the nation to have a policy that said that when a doctor made a mistake in treatment and a patient was harmed, the doctor was to tell the patient and apologize. People warned that this was admitting guilt and doctors wouldn't be able to protect themselves in a lawsuit. Instead, the rate of lawsuits dropped by more than half. Most people just wanted to be treated respectfully, and when they were, they were less likely to sue. Hopefully, the practice will spread and our citizens will be able to have more access to healthcare again.

Re: My Husband
Well, I will not have any word until near after 8 p.m. - my time, tonight. I do hope the doctor will at least take the staples out. We did a list of questions for the doctor, I hope he does address them. I did research for the survival rate, looked at several studies - the survival rate is 50%, five years.
The blood pressure was beyond, again, this morning 202/116. That is stroke range and I know upon entering the doctors' office/hospital, it will increase.
I try, my best to remain calm. I hope for the best, expect the worst, and from there be true like the pencil F 2 1/2.
Thank you all for caring, your thoughts, and wishes. I appreciate very much.

Re: My Husband
I hope they keep him in the hospital until they figure out why it's high. It scares me for you. Let us know when you hear anything.
