My new favorite Christmas present
Last night I had to go to the ER because of a kidney stone. I've had them before because I have a minor birth defect in my kidney, so I kind of knew that's what it was. So today I was too doped up to do anything, and with Christmas so close I really needed to do a lot. We've been running crazy lately and I've got dirty laundry all over the place and the house is a complete wreck. But I could not do a damn thing today and kept falling asleep.
So.... Scott just told me that he's giving me my Christmas present early. He hired the neat-freak girlfriend of one of his buddies to come clean our house for 4 or 5 hours tomorrow. That may be the best Christmas present ever!

What a great and thoughtful gift. You've got a keeper there, Karen. Hope you're feeling all better soon, too.

Re: My new favorite Christmas present
Well, she couldn't come today because her grandmother was sick, so it looks like she'll be coming tomorrow. I'm tickled. I hate to clean.
Re: My new favorite Christmas present
I do too. But I would have to spend a good 12 hours cleaning my house before I could let someone come in to clean my house....
Re: My new favorite Christmas present
LOL! That's usually exactly how I feel, but I'm too whipped to care this time. I'm gonna just lay on the sofa and make sure that I'll be able to find stuff when she's done, but I'm not helping this time. Oh, I AM making the older kids help... but not me.

Re: My new favorite Christmas present
I'm so sorry you have to go through those things too. I've had several and had to have one surgically removed a few years ago. I had one a few months ago, and I hurt for about 1.5 weeks. I finally went to the ER, they did the CT scan, and said, "good news, you must have passed it but still having spasms. Bad news, you have another one in your kidney for future reference." As far as I know it is still there, haven't been bothered by it yet. They always seem to hit me at the worst times. Hope you are feeling better soon, and WTG, for the great hubby!

Re: My new favorite Christmas present
I'm actually doing a lot better. My side feels like I've been kicked about a dozen times, but it's just soreness, not the stone moving. I actually don't know if I've passed it or not. They drugged me up like crazy in the ER (which I very much appreciated) and gave me Phenergan, too. That stuff knocks me out completely. You could do surgery on me and I wouldn't notice. Anyhow, they didn't give me anything to filter my urine with either. I've not been in bad pain since I got home, even after the meds wore off, and I keep wondering if I passed it in my drug induced stupor. I rather hope so.
I'm not going back to the Dr. if I can help it. I've had several so I know they won't do anything unless it blocks the flow of urine, and I had that happen once so I know what to look out for.
My big annoyance is that the cleaning lady didn't show up today either! I hope her Grandma's OK, but I wish she would have come.

I am so glad you are feeling better. She didn't call or anything? Man I hate that, I hope she shows up soon. If anyone deserves a helping hand- it's you. In the mean time put the kids too work, throw socks over the little ones hands and tell them top touch everything (hey it works for me, I have very dust free baseboards and low height items )

Tonite I got a most wonderrful xmas gift and I cried like a big Baby!! My girl friend Karen started taking quilting classes 9 months ago and she made me this beautiful quilt it is a king size and it is all different shades of blue in it it took her 6 months to make.. It is so damn pretty I don't even want to use it... I love it even more since it came from her heart.. yes I am mushy(LOL)

Re: My new favorite Christmas present
I'm a quilter and I'd love to see a photo, Sharon. She really cares about you to give you such a gift. My MIL keeps hinting at a quilt for her bed, but they have a king and I'm reluctant to get started on one. I owe my sister, too, but she says they're thinking of getting a king, too. I like mine to be oversize to insure that they cover a deep mattress and take shrinkage into consideration, so a king would need to be massive.

Re: My new favorite Christmas present
Yes she is a great friend -- I met her about 1 1/2 year ago though cubscouts and she was my daughter 5th grade teacher.. She was the one talked me into be a den leader... She knows all the work I have done with helping the shelters and she said since I help everyone else she wanted to give me something--- Which made me cry even more.. (LOL) I am one of those whom cry at Hallmark commericals..
Speaking of crying -I will never complain about my life again .. last week my team and I went to the homless Veterns shelter and there was 271 men and 10 women in that shelter mostly Veitam vets how sad is that .. We handed our donations and they put it this safe type thing until the morning and our bags were the only ones in that hug box --My friend beth is a tough one hers eyes swelled up then Kris chin started to quiver then I snapped and cried.. We were blubbing fools by the time we walked out...
So remind me of this when I need to VENT.. which I will probaly soon will be doing since were looking to buy another home --We sold ours 2 years ago when my husband papermill that he worked for went overseas and we could not afford it.. Now I am hoping to buy another one this year if all goes right and we can find a good one for a good price and I sat outside that shelter smoking a but crying and felling guilty since I have been crying over that house for 2 years -- never again will I ever cry over something so stupid -since I also just found out my brother- mother -inlaw has stage 4 cancer and has weeks to live --she had a headache and went to the dr.. 3 days b-4 Xmas and found this out.. -Which blows since my neice and nephew will have no grandmother-since my Mom died when she was 47 of cancer..
So if you all can say a prayer her that would be nice her name is Sandy and she is only 57 years old thanks guys!! (and thanks for listening)
