Let's talk politics - Page 2 Empty Re: Let's talk politics

Post by Rebecca1340 Fri Aug 29, 2008 12:19 am

http://www.rickmercer.com/ There should be video clips, his blog links, and lots more there. Rick's sort of got a fake news show here, but it's based on actual news, mostly political. He'll go after any of the politicians no matter what party they're in when he sees holes in their policies, but he'll also pat them on the back for a job well done. He's a big supporter of Canadian troops.
Rick's Rants are usually my favourite clips. They're usually very political, thought provoking, and funny. Of course I might find them that way because I'm already a bit of a political junky. In other skits he's even done things like skinny dipping with one of the contenders for the Liberal Party leadership, and had a sleepover at the Prime Minister's house. Funny stuff and much lighter than his rants!

Let's talk politics - Page 2 88315 Same thing happened to Paul Anka.

We have hockey and we drink beer.
And medicinal marajuana. Don't forget that!

In the province which I reside, our chief in charge received a drunk driving charge while vacationing in Hawaii.
Don't forget about your former premier -- the gay guy who got caught stealing or shoplifting or something a few years ago... Was is Sven Robinson? Something Scandanavian like that. Our old premiers just do boring things like Bob Rae did and jump to a party who has a chance of winning when they want to get into federal politics.

God, I forgot we have Twain and Murray - they are female singers not politicans. I straying, it is hard for me to stay focused on politics in Canada. Basically, there is not much - we generally ride on the back side of the USA. cheers lol! Let's talk politics - Page 2 812984
I actually don't believe that. Well, ok, Harper rides with his lips imprinted on GWB's behind, but I think the average Canadian is more proud of our differences -- we have that whole socialist thing going for us. Come to think of it that whole socialist thing is probably why chelle and I don't get into deep political debates... Better back track to beer and hockey now Let's talk politics - Page 2 439161

Wait! I thought the Russians had Premiers and you guys had Prime Ministers? What happened? Did they cross over the Bering Straights?

And Erin... was that Kinky Big Dick Freedman? Or some other Kinky Freedman? Sorry. I just love his name. Can you imagine going to court to legal change your name to Kinky Big Dick Freedman?

Karen. thank you for your input. But I still believe wether we have 25 or 400 members, we should be able to talk about any subject, because no one is required to either read or comment on any one they're not interested about.

Chelle, hope you didn't didn't take my rebuttal to your post personaly, because it sure wasn't meant that way. I guess I'm just passionate about "some" subjects, as are you, as in gun laws. I don't agree with you nor do I like guns, but I don't comment in the threads when you talk about your (and others) being in favor of them.

UB is made consists of a who lot of dfferent peoples... and we all have a lot of opinions. Sometimes we agree. Sometimes we don't. But this is America, where we are able to agtee to disagree...

I guess if I'm going to continue to stick with the UB (which I really do want since I consider the originals as almost like extended family), I don't want to quit coming here, but I also want to know that I can say/post what I'm thinking/feeling. If I can't, then, well it'll be time for me to move along, which I seriously do not want to do.

and Rebecca, thanks for your trying to keep this thread light and fun... along with all you do to keep this board going

Very Happy

You know, just today I was bored and looked at the BzzMap and noticed YET AGAIN that it only shows the US of A. They just SO don't get that they are an international company. But wait! You're dodging, Rebecca! Premiers! Where the heck did THEY come from. You did NOT mention Premiers in my Canadian politics primer!

I don't know if you saw my post on the first page, but one of the things I explained that mods can't skip threads. That's why Chelle and Erin expressed the opinion they did.

Now, back to the important stuff -- Talking to Americans! If you don't know what I mean by Talking to Americans, you must not have Googled Rick Mercer yet.
The Prime Minister is the head honcho of the entire country. Premiers are the head honchos of each province. They bicker amung themselves and fight over federal money, but really Quebec gets it all because they keep complaining about the rest of us. Sort of like a kid with a whole pile of brothers and sisters who complains that the others are always picking on him so his mom spoils him rotten.

OK, that's just wierd. Cause your post was NOT showing when I wrote that, but usually if I'm trying to reply and someone posts first, it will let me know. Not only did it not, but all my shells quit spinning. Damn European site had frickin defective seashells. Or maybe it's Chelle's fault. Seashells... See Chelle's... could be.
