Re: Daughter is sick..
Poor girl! I'm sure this is so overwhelming for her. Will she be 17? Or is she turning 16? Either way, it's a miserable way to spend her special day. But I'm glad that she's in a place where they are taking proper care of her. It's wonderful that they aren't just pumping her full of drugs, or even worse, refusing to give her enough drugs. They are doing massage AND medication. I'm impressed! Hopefully, the next time you post it will be with news of her improvement.
Re: Daughter is sick..
I'm impressed with her care too, although I know it's frustrating that she's not feeling better yet
I think Licky is a great name too!

Re: Daughter is sick..
Morning all, well just found out this morning that they are scheduling a colonoscopy for tomorrow which means that she has to fast starting today until after she has it tomorrow. Not good since they were supposed to bring her b-day cake which she cannot eat now. She is turning 17 today for those who asked her age. (I feel so old) lol but I was a young mother, I had her when I was 18. Anyway, we will try to make the best of today and go from there.

Re: Daughter is sick..
((((Wynonna))))
I had my 13th birthday somewhat under the same circumstances ..... it was miserable at the time, but as I look back, it was that experience that made my decision to become a nurse and help others, as the nursing staff was so kind to me.
Kelly, if there's anything you need, please let me know. Did you mention, where are you staying ? Is there a Ronald McDonlad house there, or are you also living in the hospital ?

Re: Daughter is sick..
Thanks. I am staying right at the hospital with her. They have a pretty good set up here, with a laundry room and parent lounge w/computer. We might have company later today. I have a friend who lives an hour away in Bucksfield and she said she might come by around dinner, so that will be nice. I should go, she has to take meds and I was just coming to the lounge to get juice out of the fridge for her, I will check back later.

Re: Daughter is sick..
Kelly, I am so sorry. I hate it that even today on her special day she cant be a normal kid.
I am still praying for both of you. and I know that you will enjoy a special dinner when she gets home.

Re: Daughter is sick..
The only good thing about this is that years from now she will tell her teenaged daughter, "You think you have it hard? Back when I was your age..."
Re: Daughter is sick..
Happy Birthday to her! I wish her nothing but the best of luck with everything!
Re: Daughter is sick..
Last night was a horrible night. They had to clean her intestines out for the colonoscopy today. So she was up all night going to the bathroom which causes her extreme pain not to mention not sleeping. I will be hoping at some point we get a nights sleep, we haven't since this all began. I am beginning to wonder how long a person can possibly go without sleep. The Colonoscopy is scheduled for 2 today. The results of this will determine what steps they will take next. If it doesn't look too bad then they will continue with steroids. If it looks worse than they feel it should at this point, then they will try Remicaid. If they get in there and see that its affecting the upper intestines as well as the lower, then that means that the colonoscopy that they did up in Caribou was not thorough enough and they misdiagnosed her with colitis instead of Crohn's disease. Any prayers would be appreciated please. Thanks

Re: Daughter is sick..
Oh Kelly, I am so sorry, for her and for you havening to see your baby suffering. I hope everything goes well today. My cousin and a close friend of mine have Crohns. If that is the case I do hope you get a diagnosis so that she can begin working on a regimine to keep her in good health. It's so much easier to fight when you know what you are fighting. Tell Wynonna we are all thinking of and praying for her.

Re: Daughter is sick..
We sent her a card yesterday, and I'm continuing to pray that she will heal. I'm so sorry that things are so rough for both of you.
Get some sleep, Kelly. Even if she can't sleep, you can. You will be better able to help her if you aren't falling apart yourself.

Re: Daughter is sick..
Please let us know the results of todays procedures. I can't even imagine what you must both be going through right now.
Re: Daughter is sick..
Hi,
What a day yesterday. Wynonna had her colonoscopy, it was a hard day to be here by myself. The Dr gave me pics of her intestines. Her upper intestine looks ok, but they took a biopsy to make sure there were no underlying problems that they cant see. The lower however is another story. A normal intestine is supposed to look smooth , shiny, and sleek. Hers looks like a bunch of chopped meat, it's horrible and scary. I just about fell apart when I saw the pictures and I am trying to think of what questions to ask at the same time. It would have been nice to have family there. They moved us onto a different floor in a different room, a floor that wasn't really family friendly, and then today they moved us again which wasn't any better. We were used to a room more than twice the size of the room we are in now, with a shower and air conditioning. These last two rooms have been horrible and the bathroom isn't even big enough to turn around in. They are giving her Remicaid and in a day or two said that it should produce results. This Remicaid IV will be every few weeks for a while and at some point hopefully she would be able to have meds to keep things at bay instead. The Dr said that it's not likely but that 20% don't respond to Remicaid and those have to have surgery. Lets pray she is not in that 20%. There is a lot more but I don't have the time tonight. I will keep you updated as things go along.

I know it doesnt seem like its good to you now, but I am so glad that you are getting results at this hospital. I know you are scared and I cant imagine how hard it must be. I wish there was somthing I could do to help. honestly, I do. If you can think of ANYTHING, more cards, flowers, ANYTHING that will make her stay a little nicer I will do what ever it takes.
I am praying for you and her.

Oh, Kelly! How horrible for both of you! I wish I could make things better for both of you. Remember that even though we are not there in body, we are there for you in spirit. If you should think of anything we can do, please let us know. I wish I could just be there to sit with her and let you have a break.
Re: Daughter is sick..
On top of everything else they have to keep moving you around like chess pieces and giving you less comfortable rooms? Phaugh on them!
Well, I am hoping the new meds make a difference and that you can be on your way to home, and healing soon.
