Re: Daughter is sick..
Me too, it would answer one of my prayers. If that ends up being the case she won't have to take her morning and afternoon meals of pills for the rest of her life. It would also mean no increased risk of colon cancer and surgery.

Re: Daughter is sick..
Kelly, I'm so relieved to know there's hope that she does not have a life altering disease. But remember that even if that were the case, there is still hope for a cure. 100 years ago she would have died from this. 50 yrs ago they would have taken out her colon for sure. And today she has medication that is allowing her to heal. I believe that you'll get good news six months from now, but even if you don't her future may be better than even her doctors anticipate. For all we know, Edbson's daughter will find a cure for your daughter. There is always hope.

That line made me smile. lol
Kelly, great news for Wynonna! You have been amazing through this illness, and I'm sure that gave Wynonna the strength and security she needed to heal.
Bless you guys!

Re: Daughter is sick..
Karen, I agree and though things look in our favor right now, we haven't discounted the possibility that they may not turn out that way. One of the good things that came of all of this is that we educated ourselves on Colitis and Crohn's and potential surgery and IBD's alltogether. We had the opportunity while we were down at Maine Med to talk to some other parents of children and the children themselves who have an IBD and also others who have worse conditions. These parents and children were inspirations to us. And you're right these conditions aren't a death sentence like they were 100 yrs ago and because of today's medicine, many people with these conditions are living normal lives. What her and I really want more than anything is just for her to feel well, no matter the circumstances. That is our goal. It's nice to come here to this board and have some encouragement too, you guys are all awesome

Re: Daughter is sick..
That's awesome news Kelly!!!!
You know I had a thought..... I know she's been tested up one end and down the other, but has there been any testing for intolerance to wheat?? Even a slight intolerance can completely throw off her intestines.
Also, I was wondering if you had any luck with the probiotics?? They really will help with her overall health!

Re: Daughter is sick..
Just had to say that Wynonna is doing better, the days after her remicade treatments are hard, but things are looking up. I wanted to also say thank you to Karen for the clothes that she sent for Wynonna, it was a big help, thank you Karen! I will send pic of her in them to you as soon as I am able to!

Re: Daughter is sick..
I hope they fit, I only found a single pair of pants, and a pair of shorts (everyone here is very short, lol) But there are a bunch of shirts and a card my daughter made for Wynonna. My brother still hasn't finished packing, we may find some more jeans yet though.
Re: Daughter is sick..
Oh goodness. I just saw all of this. I am so sorry that you and your daughter had to go through all of that! I'm glad she is feeling a little better.

Re: Daughter is sick..
Just wanted to say a last thank you to both Tara and Karen for the clothes they sent, I have already said thank you to both of them, but I just wanted others to know about their generosity and how sweet they are. I also want to say a thank you to anyone who offered prayers for us. Tomorrow we go to see our family physician to do an interim checkup between Remicade treatments, she has her next one in 9 days. Things are looking better for now.

Re: Daughter is sick..
Kelly - I am not here as much as I used to be, and just found this thread. I wanted to send my hugs and support to you and Wynonna! I was diagnosed with colitis at 16, and while I went through some extremely uncomfortable and embarassing (more embarrassing than uncomfortable) tests through the years, it's now just one of those things I live with. I hope she does not end up with this diagnosis, but just wanted to share that it's something you come to accept, even if she does.
Words of advice - my colitis has an IBD component, so stress triggers it badly. I tend to avoid fresh fruits and veggies, and spicy food (and MAN! I love salsa!) but by following my own "rules of thumb" I have been able to be medication free for 10 years now. I have an occasional flare up, and I treat with Imodium for a day or two until things are back to normal.
If there's anything you need, or have questions on, please feel free to send me a PM. Hopefully this is a non-issue and the doctors have the problem solved for you, though! *hugs*
