Hurricane Irene
Are any of you in her direct path?
I hope everyone stays safe.
Is anyone taking extra precautions? Having to evacuate?
We are supposed to get the tail end of it on Sunday.
Take care everyone, be safe and please let us know how you are doing.

Re: Hurricane Irene
Looks like we are in for a doozy of a storm.
Not like you people in the U.S. but serious enough for the weather network warnings.
Remember the post I make about the shark?
Well, that water(Bay of Fundy) is what is causing the concern.
We live across the road from the Bay and that is where they are expecting the storm to track, possibly causing storm surges and there is a risk of serious flooding.

Re: Hurricane Irene
The air feels weird today.
This is my list for getting ready, just in case:
Fill tub with water for flushing the toilet. Run off some drinking water.
Have enough food/water/beer/cigarettes for 72 hours.
I have lots of candles.
Charge cell phones/laptops. Fill vehicle with gas.
Gas for generator.
Do laundry today.
Have some cash on hand.
Am I missing anything?

Re: Hurricane Irene
It's very, very windy here right now. No rain yet.
I wouldn't be surprised if the power goes out soon.

Re: Hurricane Irene
Good luck Valerie! It shouldn't be too bad unless you're very close to a body of water

I live across the road from the Bay of Fundy, which has the highest tides in the world.
I wish is were daylight. At least then we could see if the water rises to a dangerous level.

Re: Hurricane Irene
Thanks! From your lips to God's ears. We will be OK, our hay and crops may be another story.
Do you know the song "We Will Survive"?
We will. No matter the damage, we will pick up and move on.
What else can you do?

Re: Hurricane Irene
Glad you're keeping a positive attitude... hopefully, like the states south of you, it will be downgraded and not as bad as predicted... and yes, you Will Survive ( I do remember the song!)

Re: Hurricane Irene
We were unscathed by Irene. She was just being a bitchy blowhard.
Now the next one one that we are watching for is Katia. She is headed for Bermuda right now but is expected to reach Atlantic Canada the middle of next week.
Oh well. Bring it on!! I AM NOT AFRAID OF YOU, KATIA !!
[quote]Residents of Bermuda and the Canadian Maritimes are watching Tropical Storm Katia, Katia is expected to be a Category 4 Hurricane during her lifetime. Should Katia make landfall in Nova Scotia as a Category 2 or 3, This will be the first Hurricane of that strength since Hurricane Juan in 2003 to hit Nova Scotia
