I'm over hurricane season already
What the hell ?
Can't these things give us a break for a week ? It's overcast here (way over on west coast of FL) from Hanna, and now stupid Ike keeps turning more towards the Gulf.
*Sigh* If I didn't have to stay here for my son, I'd be moving to Toronto. lol

Re: I'm over hurricane season already
I haven't been watching the news lately because the kids have been nuts. How bad do they think it will be?
Re: I'm over hurricane season already
Well, it's still a bit away, so who really knows ?
Right now it's a 3, and the map takes it either to Miami or into the Gulf as a 4. Of course, that's the big ol cone of uncertainty .....
Did you northerners know this is official hurricane lingo ? The yellow path cone is called the cone of uncertainty and the computer models are called spaghetti .....
It's a whole part of the Gulf states southern language!

Re: I'm over hurricane season already
LOL! I had no idea!
Well, I had packed up a bunch of care packages for Gustav, but when it fizzled I set them aside in case they were needed for the others following behind. I hope they fizzle, too, but you can't count on that. Will you try to evac? Or is it too hard in FLA since there's only one direction to go and too many people trying to do it?

Re: I'm over hurricane season already
Yeah it's really too hard to evacuate.
I'm in management at work, so I have to make sure everything and everyone is safe before I am. Ex H is in maintenace, so he spends his time hunkering down his place of business. Before anyone ever makes a decision to close for the storm, it's way to late to try and get out, short of taking a flight.
There's really only 2 main highways out of this state, one up the wast coast and one up the east.
I REALLY need to get that passport for my son. I'd fly to Toronto in a heartbeat if a big storm is really coming, no matter what the cost ...... but I'm not leaving him with his father. lol
It's always too late for me to drive on out.

Re: I'm over hurricane season already
I am prayin for ya. Chances are though that the news media will send up enough prayers and sell enough of their souls to get IKE to come on into the gulf. LOL

And they KILL the love bugs!!
There is your bright side beachy!! NO love bugs!!
or is all the water making them come out worse?
Erin, are you dying from them down yonder?/ They are killing me. I swear, if I breathe one more of them in I am liable to drown in them...
As a kid I always thought they were called F*&( bugs cause thats what they did. But now I know, its just short for "them F*($)ing bugs" But you cant say all those words for fear of having your mouth open that long...

Re: I'm over hurricane season already
We don't have them too bad, but OMG IN broaddus they were horrible!! Driving over the Rayburn bridge meant stopping on the other side to wash your windshield because you cannot see thru them. And they STINK when they get stuck on the car for a day or two.

Re: I'm over hurricane season already
We ge them really bad in May and September usually. Hmmmm, I don't think I've seen any yet this fall. Those things eat the paint right off your car once you smash em, and they're impossible to wash off.
They're near blind too, they'll fly right into your mouth!
We had a nice sunny day today Looks like Ike is hitting Cuba first then heading right where the news people want it to! (so far, anyway)

Re: I'm over hurricane season already
I am breathing a sign of relief for my daughter and her hubby in Miami. However, my sister is in the path again in Hammond, La.. Her back surgery has been cancelled twice because of hurricanes. She just called me this morning to say it is now scheduled for Wed. I am praying it will happen as scheduled this time. The projections don't show it making landfall until Fri or Sat.

Re: I'm over hurricane season already
BR hasnt made a good night at work since BEFORE gustav hit. He couldnt drive and haul oil with all the dang evacuees (bumper to bumper on ALL our roads, for 2 days strait), THEN they turned OFF the oil, couldnt haul. THEN he couldnt haul cause all the evacuees were coming back. THEN they never turned the oil all the way back up, cause the price had came down. Now they will be evac'in again.
ITs killin me.
ITs killin me.
Re: I'm over hurricane season already
