Hey, what's wrong with getting up at 4 in the morning to watch a royal wedding? Very Happy I'm actually tired just thinking about it, but I said I'd go and I'm goin'!

Laughing Lori, nothing is wrong with going to watch it,I'm sure it'll be fun.I'm just sick of hearing about it on tv,every hour of every day.Did you know they came out with Kate and william panties, condoms, refrigerators and toilet covers?

Hey Lori, if you're a morning person than go for it... but hopefully you'll be driving down to GR the day before and the showing at the movie theater will be so exciting for you than you'll think nothing of the hour. Just go to bed early . HOnestly I'm looking forward to see a re-hash later in the day... but couldn't get up at that hour and still be awake to go to yoga at 10 !!

Come to think of it, actually I think it's 5am here.... but still to early

Honestly I couldn't care less and I know there is no way I'm getting out of bed that early to watch ANYTHING! lol. Nothing against it, just not overly fascinated. I'm sure I will see plenty on the news that night. I did however see the refrigerator the other morning. I was standing next to my dad and it came on- he laughed so hard he spit his coffee all over me. I get that people are into it but who in the world would want a fridge with their larger than life pictures sitting in their kitchen? Maybe I just don't "get it" but I don't get it, lol.

I agree about the fridge... but am interested in the wedding, but won't be up at 5am to watch... will catch enough that night.

They had a woman on Nightline (I think) the other night whose entire house is filled to the brim with Royal memorabilia. So much that there was just barely walking space. You cold tell that even the reporter was trying so hard not to laugh.

That said, I am sure the wedding will be beautiful, but it's still just a wedding involving people I don't know, lol.

I guess I just don't get the excitement surrounding it....like Tara says, it will be beautiful, but its a wedding involving people i don't know.
I prefer my beauty sleep over a all-nighter watching a wedding that nobody will be able to top or come even close to outdoing a royal wedding.

Coverage here started a little over an hour ago. It is kind of nice to have something other than infomercials on while I have a few quiet minutes here at work. Their new titles have been announced -- they are being named the Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge as well as an Irish title that I missed due to actually having to work.

Yep. I'm midnights all weekend. It's mostly quiet here tonight so I'm watching the guests go into the Abbey until the next time a client needs me.

Kate's dress was very pretty, very modern,so different from Diana's but both beautiful.I wonder what Harry said to William at the front while laughing. He's such a clown that I can imagine him teasing William and saying,"oh,she's hideous" lol

It left an impression on me hearing that this one duke there married a Catholic woman so he had to ..how do you say it,drop his lineage to the throne?I think that's ridiculous.

I liked the dress. It reminded me of Grace Kelly's. Very sophisticated and not overly trendy.

I "did" the Diana and Charles wedding 'way back when at 5am and we all know how that one turned out. Wink

So, no I didn't watch any of the coverage of this one, although I did read the articles about Kate's dress on the BBC website. I wish they had some closeups of the lace! The descriptions of the flowers and appliques made me want to see MORE. I must have taken the seamstresses at the Royal School of Needlework months to make all of the appliques and then apply them to the veil and gown. My fingers are sore just thinking about it.

BTW it was Prince Michael who had to remove himself from the in-line-to-the-throne list when he married a Catholic. Considering he was something like 20th down the list anyway, he probably made the right decision. lol

Nyssa the veil was plain,no appliques, and they said the dress was by someone at Alexander Mcqueen.I loved the lace on the dress, beautiful!
And you're right about him being down the line, but still, they really discriminate.I kind of expected some bling also, but she doesn't seem to be a bling girl yet

It's not really discrimination against Catholics, but because the King or Queen is considered to take on the role of the religious leader of the country when they take the throne and Catholicism already has the Pope...'nuff said. I listened to a lot of NPR today, and we can thank King Henry VIII for that.

By the way, I loved the dress. I imagined it might be like that. I had lace sleeves in mind. I thought the skirt may have been a slimmer silhouette, similar to what her sister wore as a bridesmaid. I wasn't crazy about William's uniform. His brother's (and his father's and many of the guests') looked more regal and formal.

What's NPR Lori? To me it's like saying only protestants can be president of the US.And really the royals are figureheads,so I wouldn't think it would matter.Anyway, whatever lol

National Public Radio. Very Happy

Henry VIII needed an escape route from one of his wives and the pope got pissy about granting him an annulment, so he declared himself king of the world or something...just kidding, he declared the monarch head of the church...it's a long story and I'm not thinking straight right now.
