Wedding Music help... Empty Wedding Music help...

Post by krisncode Wed Aug 06, 2008 1:49 pm

I'm getting married on Saturday and cannot find a song to walk into the reception to. I was thinking of "Let's get it started" by the Black Eyed peas but the DJ didn't think it was a good idea. I'm going crazy and there isn't much time left. Any suggestions you may have are GREATLY appreciated. Emotionally I just don't have it left in me to pick one.

Now I know why people run off to Vegas!

Big congrats !!!!

But I wont be any help. I lean more towards the country side. and an old old country song is one I would pick. Smile

But congrats anyway!!

I say screw the DJ and make him play what you wanted. It's your wedding, not his, and the people there will know you and love you and understand even if they don't get why you'd want that particular song.

All the little decisions are overwhelming me and about to just give up. I am usually a very emotionally strong person but I feel like my head is going to pop if I have to make one more decision.

The best part of any wedding is when it's all over.
I'm with Karen, tell the DJ that is your choice. Or make dh to be pick something. Very Happy

Relax. Take a deep breath. Think for a moment about WHY you are marrying this person. You love each other. You're starting a life together. This is not about dresses or flower arrangements or music or guest lists or seating arrangements. This is about inviting the people you each care about to come together to help you celebrate your love. It will be OK. It will be OK if the church floods and the cake gets destroyed by an escaped lion from the zoo, or if your in-laws get into a hair pulling fight with the bridesmaids, or if the stereo system gets hit by lightning. Because none of that is why you are there. Do what makes you happy. Don't worry about it if (when) things go wrong. The only thing you need for a perfect wedding is two people who love each other.

LOL guess I am WAY out of the loop. never heard of broken raod.
and Ice cream is loosing me too. LOL

If I was getting married right now I'd play your man by JOsh Turner. Just cause I LOVE that song.. LOL

I cant quite remember the song we danced to at our after reception thing. We only had the wedding march at the wedding. Then there was no music at my reception (BBQ held at my house with a keg ) But after that was over everyone loaded up and went to the local honkey tonk. I live in a VERY small town, a VERY small DRY town, so everyone used to end up at the honkey tonk on Saturday night.. Someone did dedicate a song to us there, but I cant remember what it was...

Hmmmm.... maybe I shouldnt have drunk that bottle of jack we got as a present....

But requardless, you shouldnt be stressed. It should be FUN, and exciting. NOT stressful. Maybe you just need a day off from planning. I can remember not being able to wait to get off work so I could plan some part of it. Writing up the menus, planning the set up. I had drawn up diagrams where everything went.. LOL And do put your foot down. Its your wedding. but dont stress, it will make it not enjoyable. My rings even got lost the night before the ceremony. MY uncle was running around freaking out. I just said "well, rings dont make a marriage, they'll turn up" BR's cowboy boots got lost. My grandfathers got taken out with the trash. (we found both pairs), I would just sit and laugh cause everyone was so stressed. I had my list, my dress and BR promised to show up. I never had a second thought.

In Spite Of Ourselves - John Prine

In spite of ourselves, we'll end up sitting on a rainbow
Against all odds, honey - we're the big door prize
We're going to spite our noses right off of faces
There ain't nothing dancin' in our eyes 'cept big old stars

Congratulations/Best Wishes for years of continued happiness.

Good Date 08.08.08 cheers
