Movie: Paranormal Activity
Is anyone else as excited as I am by the buzz about this movie? I really hope I can see it in a theater this month. October is the month for horror movies!

I'm so out of the loop. I haven't even heard about it. But I can't wait to see Zombieland. It looks like so much fun.
Re: Movie: Paranormal Activity
OK, I am excited about "Where the Wild Things Are", although I am going to a Rocky Horror party on halloween night. Thats about my scary movie extent.

LOL! I'm excited about that, too. But I'm nervous that they'll ruin it.
Re: Movie: Paranormal Activity
i have not been to the movies in years.....one of the things you give up when you have a small toddler and no family living close to you.

I so rarely watch TV I have no idea what is playing or coming out. BUT Rocky Horror party? I am SO jealous.
Re: Movie: Paranormal Activity
Zombieland and Rocky Horror are comedies, though. I'm looking for something to scare the crap out of me.

Some friends are having a HUGE tv screen brought in, like 18 wheeler size, and we are having a Party in their pasture, at midnite, it should be....interesting...but dh says he is NOT dressing like the "sweet transvestite" ever again....

Re: Movie: Paranormal Activity
First ever scary movie I saw was THEM.. about ants, next was someting about pods... people being put in them and clones replacing... I think... that was the end of my horror movies, until Rosemary's Baby... after that and the Exorisist, I gave up all horror and gore... give me a comedy or a romance any day, and keep the scare!

Re: Movie: Paranormal Activity
Paranormal Activity is supposed to be sort of Blair Witch Project-like. A young couple sets a camera up in their bedroom to record at night because the woman thinks she's being posessed or terrorized by a demon. My description is sort of vague, but that's because I don't want to be spoiled and find out what happens ahead of time. And I actually did like Blair Witch Project. It had a nice creepiness to it.

Re: Movie: Paranormal Activity
Dee and agaphmou, when we were kids we used to watch all of the late night Friday and Saturday scary movies on tv. In Detroit, we had lots of shows to choose from - Creature Feature, Sir Graves Ghastly, Scream Theater, The Outer Limits, Twilight Zone. Those were the good old days! I especially miss Sir Graves Ghastly. His show was on in the 60's and not sure how long it ran. He did weird skits and song and dance numbers between the movie and station breaks. Like he'd paint eyes and nose on his chin and film his face upside down and sing songs as a character called The Glob. LOL You had to be there!

Re: Movie: Paranormal Activity
LOL
Scream Theater used to be on on Saturday nights, late night. I would watch it while babysitting. After every station break, before they started the movie again, they'd show the Scream Theater logo and they'd play this really LOUD horrific scream. This was pre-remote control, so I used t have to go stand in front of the tv and manually turn the sound down until the movie had resumed.

Re: Movie: Paranormal Activity
When I was in high school I used to stay up late on Saturday nights to watch something similar. I can't remember now what the name of it was... but it was a local station that played old, old horror movies. They showed black and white classics with Vincent Price or Boris Karloff or Claude Raines or even the cheap, low budget ones with no star, bad acting, and horrible special effects. But just before and after the commercial breaks they would have a hostess dressed like a vampire who did some silly skit that was making fun of the movie. Like when they showed The Blob (which for those of you who don't remember moved incredibly slowly), the hostess would have a skit where she was being attacked by "The carpet from another television station" which was just a rolled up carpet that wouldn't move at all. She would see it and scream, but not run... just like in the movie. Then the commercial would come. After the commercial they'd cut back to her and she'd be panting and dissheveled, say something like, "Oh no! It's after me! How will I ever get away from this carpet?" then turn and see it again (still in the exact same postion) and scream some more. It was really, really funny and always based on the old cult classic they were showing.

LOL
I never watched Elvira, but it could be. The carpet thing sounds hilarious, Karen! In those old movies, the baddies were very slow, weren't they? In Zombieland - woah! They are super fast and not easy to escape at all. Definitely a new twist on the Zombie.

I remember that show, we used to watch it.
I used to love scary movies, until dh convinced me to go see Candyman. That cured me. If you haven't seen it, rent it....

Was Virginia Madsen in Candyman? I don't think I've ever enjoyed a movie that she's been in. Now, I avoid movies when she's in the cast, but I think I saw this one before I made that rule. LOL
