My Points and Amazon

I just happened to be on MyPts and was looking around and on the list of merchants to shop through, they do have Amazon, but there are no points awarded. However you can shop Amazon through MyPts. If you click on the Amazon link in the list of merchants this is the message that comes up.

"MyPoints.com has included this merchant as an added convenience to our Members. Please note that no Points will be awarded for any purchases made through this link."

and it gives you the option to go through to Amazon or not.
So my question is, why bother putting them on there then? If I want to shop Amazon, I don't want to go through MyPts to do it unless I am getting something out of the deal. So if I want something from Amazon then I'm gonna go directly to the Amazon website. I just thought that was funny/odd.

Maybe they've agreed to put the link there because we can redeem our points for Amazon gift cards. So yeah, it's odd, but maybe something they've agreed to do. Who knows, maybe MyPoints gets a kickback from Amazon if we enter through their portal, even if we don't get something ourselves.

Upromise has the same message, well at least they use too. Many people go through the site to do their shopping so maybe they put it there to keep you in the habit of using them.

Considering how slow loading and responding the MyPits site is, I certainly wouldn't go through them for anything I wasn't getting a benefit for. Dialup is bad enough without adding a dragging middleman into the mix.

If it weren't for the BA source of points, I wouldn't touch MyPits with a ten-foot pole!

i think its your computer and not the MP site, i never have a problem with the site loading, its always very fast

It's the combination. MyPoints loads quick IF you have a fast computer and connection. If you don't, it's one of the slowest loading sites out there.

I wish we did get points from amazon...it would benefit amazon to do it, but until then I will use whatever sites I can get points from. Not only do I want the best deal and will shop around through mypoints, but I prefer the sites that offer more points per dollar
