Mypoints & amazon GC
I e-mailed mypoints yesterday and received back a reply today. I asked if they were out of the
GC or if they were no longer offering them. Here is their reply:
At this time, most of our Electronic Gift Certificate redemptions are undergoing
a testing procedure. The reward you have inquired about should be available in
1-2 weeks. We thank you for your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience!
We appreciate your participation in the MyPoints program. Please let us know if
you have any more questions!

I saw Amazon on the site briefly so this is welcome news to me..although I am happy to see both Lowes and Home Depot.

Re: Mypoints & amazon GC
Word of warning about the Amazon GCs... at least last time I looked, they are THE most expensive GC at MyPoints.
OTOH Pier 1 which is also good for you Canucks is one of the cheapest available. I think that's gonna be my BzzPoints GC. I usually buy GCs I need, but I'm going to use my Bzz GC for something I WANT!
A long time ago we used to have a univesal GC like the ones for Canadians and THEY were the most expensive GCs back then. I bought a couple $100 worth of them to get Amazon GCs, but NOW I'm too cheap to use my MyPoints at the inflated rate charged for Amazon GCs.
Fortunately I've needed other slightly less expensive GCs (CircuitCity is NO bargain either but hey when you get over $100 worth of product you NEED for free it's worth it) lately.
Thankfully it's really easy to rack up points at MyPoints especially if you're GOOD at remembering to CANCEL stuff. I get TONS of GCs from their Free trial offers which are a great deal if you stay on top of them and CANCEL before you get charged unless you find it's a service you'd like to keep.
I just got a nice $25 Target GC that netted me 500 points and cost me... let's see $1! After I looked over the club NO WAY was I keeping it... Total scam, but it cost me only $1 to check it out and I got the target card worth $25. That = a $24 net profit plus points.

Re: Mypoints & amazon GC
I used to do lots of those kind of mypoints offers, way back when. I now feel I don't need to do those kind of offers. I hate remembering to cancel the stuff. Have been hassled by some of them in the poast too, now I treat myself better than that and stopped doing it. I don't need the free stuff THAT much is what I have decided. Glad you like it Darby, but not for me anymore. I only do the bonus mail click throughs now, and other easy peasy stuff.

Re: Mypoints & amazon GC
Sadly, I live far enough from a big city that I will most likely have to go with either Wal-mart or Amazon. I had wanted to get something kind of fancy, so I'd rather not go with Wal-mart. But only a very few of the other places are within cheap driving distance. It won't save me money to get a cheaper gift card but waste $20 worth of gas driving to a place to spend it.
Re: Mypoints & amazon GC
I live well away from most of the great stores..this is what I do..I slick deal/fatwallet/gottadeal...which means..get a gc to one that you really want..then check those sites for free or low cost shipping codes..or great deals like at Bath and Body works..I spent a 50 dollar gc from Christmas and ended up with well over 80 dollars worth of items and free shipping..thebigscott wrote:Sadly, I live far enough from a big city that I will most likely have to go with either Wal-mart or Amazon. Especially if its something you long for...worth sitting on a GC and buying it online..never have to use a cc to do it..
Maybe we should start sharing free shipping codes and good deals at stores that we can purchase gc's from My points..

Re: Mypoints & amazon GC
If I can ever get in to actually use my points I will end up NOT getting something for me. thats how it works. if I dont have a choice, I will pick out something I like and want. When I have a choice between practical and splurge I will end up getting the walmart GC so I can buy groceries.
Same as giving me cash or amazon GC at other sites. I take the paypal cash so I can pay a bill. instead of the GC so I can buy me a flat iron.
When I only have a choice of getting something from amazon, chances are I will still get the kids something, but at least sometimes I will throw in a little something for me.

Re: Mypoints & amazon GC
I spent some time on MyPoints earlier this evening and have to say that my opinion of it remains unchanged from when I'd previously been a member. Far too much time and work involved to get a few points here and there............ plus I have to keep checking my junk mail folder to find out what additional crap they are sending me. I think I ended up unsubscribing from 7 things tonight alone!
The site is definitely not geared towards us northerners, none of the trial offers I checked out apply to us up here. I tried to order a magazine subscription to pick up 250 points but that wouldn't work either. My oh my, what is a Canuck to do????? Well, in my case, I'm seriously thinking of packing both Bzz and MyPoints in once my whack of points show up - will just need to decide which of the extremely limited GC options will be of most use and easiest for me to use here in Canada.

Re: Mypoints & amazon GC
I still wish they had Amazon.ca. I'd even be happy if bzzagent worked out a deal with Amazon.ca on their own.
