Actually I would but I always miss out and end up with key chains and stuff or donations. I have had a couple good reward though so I can't complain. I really wanted a digital frame but never got one.

I have heard that there are agents out there with double what I have too. I do think they are going to stop the point system and that is the goodbye in shahola and the new system is the hello in shahola.

I am here, I was looking into the Canadian information, I am glad that its going to be cleared up for all of you. Is everyone still submitting reports? Any refined guesses on a date for Shahola to start? I am still thinking May 22nd as it is my 22nd birthday!!

Well I'm darn happy for the Canadians.. that is great great news!! I think they should be entitled equally to rewards and campaigns as americans are!

It makes me nervous that they can't confirm the date. I have a hard time thinking that all the details are worked out if they still have the date for launch up in the air, LOL!

I think they know what the system is, but are working out the bugs in the mechanics of it. You know, checking that it all works.

This thing about Canadians not having to pay duty on rewards.... I'm trying to think up scenarios about how they could do that because they can not change Canadian law. Product comes over the border... Duty is paid. So, they wouldn't be sending products from the US to Canada in the form of a reward. So there are a couple of options: 1) they wouldn't be sending them from the US, but rather from Canada. or 2) they wouldn't be sending any product from the US at all. It could be sent in the form of vouchers, online coupons for canadian stores, or more donations to be made in their name so they get the tax break? I'm not sure how good this is, but only time will tell. Any guess as to when this new system will be in place?

I think duty depends on the item. Some items it is more... some less. I remember when my husband ordered a 20 dollar part from the US, there was a 40 dollar customs brokerage charge with it! Not everything is that much though.

One thing I was thinking about with gift cards is that it is kind of like cash. If it were like cash, then we would be 'employees' rather than volunteers and wouldn't that force us to pay income tax on the income we earned?

If only I was a lawyer with the answers to my own questions... sigh.

Here in the US its not an income. its a prize. and yes after so much money on prizes or income we have taxes, but it takes alot.

O.k. this is my humble opinion, prob not right, but that rarely stops me! I think they must have the whole new system ready to go more or less, but won't give any details or an exact date because they anticipate problems enacting it. Think about the idea that some people have thousands of bzzpoints (I have way less than that ) that you could once only use in campaigns, and now I think it's going to be a free-for-all. They are probably still trying to figure out how to handle that. Maybe they'll go in tiers, with 4th having first pick? Sorry to ramble, I have no idea really .

It's very cool that the Canucks won't have to pay anymore for their rewards. I found it shocking that they did in the first place.

Now I must go look it up on wikipedia, LOL. I can't stand not knowing how things work.

I don't think it will go by tier, I bet it will be all at once and crazy....waves of crazy....probably this weekend or next when I am out of town.....

I have gotten gift cards from Mypoints and never had to claim anything on my taxes, nor am I comsidered to be working for them for getting that gift card for points I earned. The same goes for my credit card companies, never have to claim the rewrds I claim from them - mostly gift cards.

The wikipedia article on canadian import duties is a stub. So I still don't know much.

I do know that when I sold on ebay I would have people ask me to write 'gift' on the package so they wernt charged duties.

There’s no need to change your campaign/Bzzing behavior in anticipation of the new system. Just keep doing what you are doing. (Though if you are in a campaign, you may want to submit your reports soon so that you have more points for Shaloha. This is by no means essential, it’s just a tip.)
