I hate tornados...
Our little town had tornados touch down early this morning about 6 am. It was only an EF0, but it destroyed or damaged about 15 businesses and at least that many homes. Neighborhoods are littered with debris and have lots of damage. BIG trees were picked straight up out of the ground, roots and all, and tossed aside. Thank God no one was hurt! We are all blessed with that one. Power has been off all day and only a few areas have it back now. They're saying that it will take a few days to get it fully restored! Power poles were snapped in half and they have a lot of them to replace before they can even start on the lines themselves. We have no damage here at my house, but it sure scared the crap out of me!

Re: I hate tornados...
I am glad that you are okay, but I really feel for the families that lost homes and jobs. I do hope that they are able to find some help!
Re: I hate tornados...
I saw Ava on the news last night and hoped you were ok Trish. We lost power yesterday morning, but had it back by 10 or so. Sorry it hit so close to you

Re: I hate tornados...
glad to know you're okay, but it is so sad to hear about all the damage the storms yesterday/this morning did, and in AK, 8 people die. We were under a watch all day yesterday, into the wee hours this morning... my biggest fear is a tornado coming in the middle of the night. I pray it never happens.

It is really tough in this area because, for the most part, we are too rural for sirens. Were the deaths in Ark in the Ozarks Dee?

I'm not sure, just copied this from the news
In Arkansas, destruction ran from Siloam Springs near the Oklahoma line to tiny communities along the Mississippi River.

Re: I hate tornados...
Wow how scary! I'm glad your okay Trish, the pictures are sad I have never experienced mother natures wrath in anything worse than an ice storm, and the very thought scares me to death. I think people living in earthquake and hurricane zones are rather brave.
Re: I hate tornados...
I'm so glad that you and your community are OK, and with the others had been more lucky.
Re: I hate tornados...
We didn't get any storms, although we could use some rain. I really feel for all the people who lost everything, having btdt with Hurricane Rita. It is tough to lose almost everything you own, and have to start all over.

Re: I hate tornados...
Thanks everyone. Power's been going in and out since, so that's why I haven't been on. They finally got all the power back on tonight. And it looks like we will have school tomorrow. They weren't sure about that until a few hours ago. They finally cleared the debris out of the streets at least and opened the roads back up, too. I've talked to some people that saw it and they said that it just bounced across town. It didn't leave a path, but it took out things just here and there as it bounced.
Honey, I do live in town and they say that the sirens did go off at about 5:55, but they only went off for a few minutes. The tornado hit at about 6:15-6:20. That is what really pisses me off. Why don't they sound constantly until it's over? We were still under a warning, so it should have still been going off. I live in a mobile home and I woke up to the trailer rocking side to side at 6:12. I got up and looked out the window and even opened the back door and looked out. There were no sirens going off and it just seemed like a normal storm....rain and windy. Not BAD winds, but normal thunderstorm winds and normal rain. I didn't see or hear anything, so I turned on the TV to see what the news was saying. My cable was out, so I couldn't get anything. I turned on the radio and they didn't say anything either, so I went back to bed thinking that maybe it was another earthwake. But then at about 6:20 the power went out. I got up then and turned to the local radio station and they weren't broadcasting at all, so knew something was up. 10 min later, I got a call from my BIL who lives about 30 min south of us, asking if we were okay because the news was saying that a tornado just came through. If it wasn't for him calling, I wouldn't have even known at that time. And by that time, it was too late!
