I do not want to bake a cake.

I do not want to bake a cake tonight.

Scott's been working on some home repairs and we hadn't really been able to clean house much for several days. The fridge and the freezer were pulled out from the wall into the middle of the kitchen and there were tools and building materials in several of the other rooms.

Meanwhile we finally got hold of one of Zoe's best friend from school last year. Zoe's been wanting to have a sleep-over with her two best friends as a belated birthday party. We celebrated her actual birthday with just family (plus Caly's best friend who happened to be over at our house). But we didn't invite friends until now.

So... we spent the day cleaning, organizing, sorting, and basically wearing ourselves out so that there would be some open space for the girls to play in and nothing laying around that they could get hurt on.

Then we went swimming to wash off all the sweat.

THEN I realized that Zoe will be expecting a cake for this sleepover and I should get it done before the girls get here or I'll have several little helpers assisting me in making a major mess. I went to the store and got supplies. And now I need to actually get off my butt and start making it.

I don't want to do it in the morning because it's been soooo hot out and will be just as bad tomorrow. We just have a little window A/C. I need to do it while it's kind of cool.

But I'm exhausted. I just don't think I have it in me tonight.

Good luck! You are a much better person that I am.. I would have just bought treats and called it good...

I would have gotten store bought cupcakes and called it a day, or Little Debbies....

I remember only having the one small window unti, it sucked. When we bought our first house it had nothing , so we went to wal mart and got 2 small window units, one for the living room, and one for our bedroom....and the very next summer we installed central air...

This is the first summer that the A/C has been a real problem. It's just a very hot year.

I promised Zoe a cake way back when we first thought of the idea. It's going to be simple, but she wanted me to make it because I made Zaven and Caly's. It'll be a chocolate cake with yellow frosting and a big red daisy covering the top. Simple enough... just too frickin' hot.

I don't blame you -- I dread making just supper with the heat and humidity we've had this summer! Baking is definately on the bottom of my to do list.

send the heat this way... well some of it, but you can have the humidity!

We have had really cool weather this year so far...they were saying it was going to cool off this week, which is a joke because it has not been hot at all! we in fact had the coolest July in a long time and were setting some records.

next 10 days, we will maybe hit 70...when we usually have 85 plus around now. we are having June gloom in August....

I understand girl- I have fiqured out that one of my fondant problems is me doing fondant while I bake- BIG mess.

My house gets SOOOO hot when I cook- I just hate it. I have to bake 4 cakes today- That means I will nto be cooking supper. Each cake takes over an hour to bake.

and I think my AC is acting up. But I am not saying anything. as a matter of fact, that needs to be erased. If I dont admit there is a problem, there isnt one.

Well I didn't do it last night. I had Scott bake it this morning. He went with one of the great big 11-inch pans we had so even though it's a circle it's a huge circle. But I'm not complaining since he got up and did it while I slept. I'm getting ready to frost it now. I'll post pics in a bit.
