4th of July weekend... what are your plans?
We have a niece and her daughter and her nephew driving down from St. Louis. We have a nephew and his wife and son driving up from Atlanta to pick up their son who has been in St. Louis the past week.... we're the half way point between the 2 cities. Will be serving them a typical KY lunch... pulled pork on buns with coleslaw, mac & cheese, pickles, potatoe chips, fruit salad and brownies (well guess on the pork, slaw and mac & cheese are the only typical KY fare LOL)
they'll all say about 2 hours before turning the great nephew into his family's hands. wish they could stay longer, but glad we get them for a while. The Atlanta family was here last Sunday on their way back to Atlanta from St. Louis where they left their son.
But as for the 4th, well, we'll stay home... too hot and crowded to go to the Western KY state fair (held here) to watch fireworks, besides, we have enough people in the subdivision that do major fireworks, so all we need to do is sit on the deck or front porch...
The older we get, the less the hoopla becomes less important... maybe I'll go pull some weeds. Thomas, our lawn boy came and mowed today, so weeds are all I have to look forward to
Tomorrow is housecleaning, food prep (well back the brownies and cut up the fruit)... and lots of other chores... even made myself a list! Chuck will make the mac & cheese Sat morning before he goes to pick up the pork, slaw and sauces from the Bar B Que Shack (which is where we ate lunch today) yummo!

Re: 4th of July weekend... what are your plans?
We are having Rylan's birthday party Sunday afternoon, then possibly fireworks.... if we are up to a drive. For some stupid reason everywhere is doing their fireworks on MONDAY. Pisses me off, lol. The first 4th of July Robby has had off (because it's Sunday) in years and there are no fireworks unless we drive at least 45 miles.
Re: 4th of July weekend... what are your plans?
I was kind of wondering if a lot of places would be closed on Monday and celebrations held then... hardly seems like the 4th when it's the 5th, doesn't it?
Strange, even here in the bible belt, celebrations are schudeled for the 4th, Sunday.

Re: 4th of July weekend... what are your plans?
Our plans are still up in the air. I've got a summer cold, so I'm thinking we'll keep it simple and easy. I do want to go to the fireworks if I can, but other than that, we may do nothing. Scott's mom is really hoping we'll come over, but I hate to risk getting her sick. I may meet her half way and let her take the kids, but I don't want her trying to take them to the fireworks alone. It's too crowded.

We are BBQing with friends tomorrow night, and doing fireworks etc. Probably spend sunday working in the yard, and getting things done that need to be done. We still have a privacy fence to build, sand to spread, and a zillion other things.

Re: 4th of July weekend... what are your plans?
I just canceled the birthday party and rescheduled a couple weekends so I can have 1 for Rylan and Robby and be done with it. I didn't want to wait that long but everyone else has plans Sunday and I would hate for everyone to show up rush and eat and take off to something else.
So instead I'll spend the weekend watching my moms dogs and possibly she may take my kids to camp tomorrow so Sunday may be a day of relaxation and cleaning, lol.

Fixing the doorframe I broke shoving the shop vac into the utility room.
trying to stay off my sore bum, Waxed concrete WET floors are slippery,. and very VERY hard.

No, but I landed pretty hard on my butt. Bayley thought it was amusing, and Xander kept trying to slide and fall......I will use it as an excuse to not do anything but sit on it however.

I have a huge bottle of Jamison on top of my fridge. Technically it's my brothers but he isn't allowed to drink because of his pancreas. I am very thankful to all of his idiot friends that bought him booze he can't drink for his birthday to restock my liquor cabinet.
