Crockpot recipes
One of the kind ladies from cafemom.com (great site..if anyone wants in invite please pm ur email)... sent me a zip of over 400 crockpot recipes.
I absolutely love my crockpot and use in at least twice a week. If anyone is interested in the zip let me know I will email it out.
God bless,
Darlene

Re: Crockpot recipes
I am the slow cooker queen! I use mine all the time -- I even have an 8 quart one and a 4 quart one as well as a 1.5 quart slow cooker that came free when I bought the 8 quart. Hmm... I guess it's becoming quite the collection!
Re: Crockpot recipes
Can you believe it, in this day and age, I've never owned a crock pot or slow cooker???

Re: Crockpot recipes
I am so not a cook- I try though. I would love some good recipes to try... but I think 400 would just overwhelm me, lol ( no offense) so if any one has any (that they can attest is at least edible, seriously that's all hubby requires, lol) simple recipes I'd love to try them.
Re: Crockpot recipes
I'm actually a member of cafemom..and I'm in a crockpot mom's group where they post awesome recipes all the time. I think crockpotrecipes.com is a great site too! I hope it's ok to post that
luv,
Darlene
Maybe I should make 1 crockpot recipe thread where we can post recipe's we've tried and liked? Any thoughts?

Re: Crockpot recipes
if you've tried it- please share! Groceries are so expensive and I'm on a tight budget I like to hear how hard it was and whether or not it turned out well before I try new recipes. Wasting food was a (and maybe the only, lol) mortal sin in my house. Now that I have to buy the food, I completely understand. Nothing worse than feeding an entire meal to the dogs.
I have a cafemom account but only visit my one group deals and steals. Mostly freebies, but I found bzzagent through there.

Tara .. I'm a member of steals & deals too! As well as some other freebie groups on there...that's where I stumbled on bzzagent as well.
Ok.. tomorrow I will post a crockpot recipe and maybe 1ce a week do a "recipe of the week?" or something..if thats ok w/everyone.

Re: Crockpot recipes
Perfect! I hate crock pot stuff... don't know why, but I may be just using bad recipes.
Re: Crockpot recipes
I got a new slow cooker for Christmas, and I just used it yesterday for the first time. I love it! My husband isn't too thrilled with it (apparently it's not easy to clean, LOL), but it makes supper time so much faster!

Re: Crockpot recipes
I don't do a lot of crock pot cooking... but I do know an easy way to clean it. Fill it with hot soapy water and turn it on for an hour while you watch TV.
Re: Crockpot recipes
Cleaning them is easy unless it bubbles over. The best part is you only have one pot for most meals!
Re: Crockpot recipes
That's how I cleaned my old one before it met it's demise (my sister decided to leave it on the stove while cooking something, and burnt it, LOL). I'll have to pass that hint on to my husband.
I like the idea of only one pot for the meal. Now if I could just get my kids to eat the food that I make from it, I won't have to dirty more pots making them a side I know they will eat. LOL.

Re: Crockpot recipes
My poor kids get the "I made this for supper, you can eat it." They don't mind when I do a roast in it and will eat the carrots and parsnips as well. They'll eat the stew I make with the leftovers in the slow cooker the next day too!

Re: Crockpot recipes
I actually don't use tons of recipes, I just make stuff up most days. Here is my easiest crock pot recipe. It is fool proof, even you can do this one Tara.
Put a chuck roast in the crock pot. Over the top of it, dump in envelope of onion soup mix. Add nothing more, not even water. Chuck roast puts out tons of juice on its own, so it will make a great juice all on its own. Cook until tender, usually all day, on low. I serve it with rice to put the juice on.

There are Crock Pot liners that you can use to help with the clean up. I haven't used it yet but will next time I use my crock pot. They are in the same aisle as the aluminum foil and sandwich bags.

Re: Crockpot recipes
I love making roasts in the crockpot. Hubby loves the meat and I am happy to eat just the potatoes and carrots, they are so yummy and flavorful.

Now I could probably manage that. Although I just burnt two frozen pizzas in a row so maybe not.

When I was first married, and totally blond (which I'm notI) when it came to cooking, I brunt frozen peas... and we were having my new MIL & FIL for dinner!
I don't think I've burnt a frozen pizza, just the extra cheese I've added to it which dripped off and burnt on the bottom of the oven

Re: Crockpot recipes
My timer was busted and I didn't notice. Or at least until I smelled smoke, LOL.
Re: Crockpot recipes
Give me a couple of ingredients and I can respond with some 30 min or less regular recipes or a really good slow cooker. I love cooking.....since I work from home...I do focus on food alot...or at least that is what the scale says.

Thats awesome, I think I must use bad recipes, my husband cringes when I say I'm gonna use the crock pot, lol.... I always wondered about the adding water. I always want to leave it out because I always end up with too much juice that's not that tasty, so thank you, I'm gonna do that

Re: Crockpot recipes
I have a cookbook called "Fix-It and Forget-It Recipes for Entertaining" written by Phyllis Pellman Good and Dawn J Ranck.. It is packed with lots of slow cooker recipes. Everything from appetizers to main entrees are in there. Check it out.
