This one is a huge hit w/my kids.

2 tsp. cooking oil
2 lbs. ground beef
14 oz can of tomato sauce
1 1/2 cups chopped onion
1 cup thin sliced celery
2 tbsp. barbecue sauce
2 tsp worcestershire sauce
sprinkle of salt
1/4 tsp. pepper *optional*
1 1/2 cups grated med. cheddar cheese.
8 kaiser rolls, split *toasted if you would like*

Heat cooking oil in lg. frying pan on medium. Add beef. Scramble or fry for 5-10 mins until no longer pink. Drain. Place in 3 1/2-4 quart slow cooker.

Add next 7 ingredients. Stir well. Cover. Cook on low for 8-9 hours or high for 4-4 1/2.

Add cheese.. stir until melted. Makes about 4 cups of beef mixture.

Add to bottom half of buns. Place top on and enjoy!

My kids actually love this.. I served it w/salad and w/corn chips or potato chips..and slice cucumber & tomato the times I've made it.

Very similar recipe to what I do... but I do in a large fry pan with cover, and just set on low. Also use catsup for the tomato sauce, and squeeze in some prepared mustard. I don't add the cheese though, instead serve with a slice of American Cheese and dill pickle slices. In MI, we called that a Sagatuck BBQ.

mm, thanks... was going to buy loads of lean ground beef as it is on a great sale and was wondering what else I could do with it.
Today is an experimental crock pot meatloaf.

We tried it here last week too. Had no BBQ sauce and had to make my own in order to make the sloppy joes. Turned out A1.
Thanks for sharing!
