Re: What cha doin for new years?
Tim and I will be putting together a lot of food, make a few drinks and just relax at home. Probably watch a ton of movies, play the Scene It or Trivial pursuit games until 10 to midnite. Count down the New Year, drink some champagne (or something) and wind down. lol
That is what we did last year, and plan to do this year. No need to worry about drinking and then who drives home, no worry on finding a sitter and no worry about being on the road with drunk drivers. We enjoy our time together and make the most of it.
We are planning the meal ahead of time so that I can search for great deals. Money is tighter this year, so we have had to make changes to what we originally wanted to make.

Re: What cha doin for new years?
We will be staying home. We will probably order food from somewhere (Chinese probably), and either play the Wii, or watch movies. Ceilidh wants to stay up for new years, so we said we might let her go to bed at regular time, then wake her up closer to midnight.

Re: What cha doin for new years?
I told Saige I would wake her up for the ball.... assuming we are still awake, lol. Hubby gets another two days in a row off so we will most likely be in the midst of some half done home improvement project
Re: What cha doin for new years?
We usually have friends over, and do TONS of fireworks. In the past they have been staying over if someone drinks too much, this year they have been warned that they will sleep outside.

Re: What cha doin for new years?
I had hoped to let Caly have a slumber party for New Years since we were going to be up late anyway. But she just wouldn't get in gear and clean her room, invite friends, etc. So I'm thinkin' we'll just stay up late watching movies and eating a very late meal. But we will have the traditional toast at midnight. By which I mean toasted bread. My nephew thought that's what people meant and always insisted that we actually make and eat toast.

Re: What cha doin for new years?
We always stay home and rent some really bad movies:) But this year we are invited to a house party with our future son-in-laws family. He says he's going to tell them they have to all be on their good behaviour *g* They have offered us a room for the night, so we won't have to worry about driving home:)

Re: What cha doin for new years?
Not much, not even any drinking this year. I am so stressed out that I had to stop drinking again. The day after I drank an entire bottle (after a horrible incident at Wally World), I decided it wasn't helping my stress. I had a two day hangover and still had to cook and clean, what fun!. Now I have a few nice little happy pills helping me sleep again and not scream. Well not as much screaming anyway

Re: What cha doin for new years?
well, all my inlaws are coming over. I bought 20 pounds of hamburger meat, 3 dozen zummu sausages, 3 dozen boudan sausages, 4 packages of hambuger buns, 4 packages of hotdog buns, 3 velvetas, 3 bags of tortilla chips, and 3 rolls of sausage, to cook.
Each of the 4 families (there are 4 kids in hubbys family) buys as many fireworks as they can afford. it usually means there is about 7-800.00 worth of fireworks, (one couple is childless and the other make really good money.. LOL) and we pop them.
I buy all the food, so I wont be buying many fireworks, but hubby always puts in an extra day at work to pay for this party, so we will spend a little.
The kids will range in age from my 1, 4, 8, and 10 YO to SIL's 7 YO (who is scared to death of fireworks) to other SIL's 16, 17, and 18 YO. All the kids will stay up. They will be alternating between shooting fireworks and trying to kill each other all night. They LOVE when the teenages come around, cause its a total free for all.
Sometimes we drink, most times everyone has to work the next day. (out of 8 of us only 2 dont work 6-7 days a week 12-16 hours a day)
We do play games sometimes, Unfortunatly we very seldom ever manage to all get together at one time (thanks to the unGodly hours they work) so mostly we just visit, it will be July 4th before we can do it again.
I wish I could afford to buy into a fireworks stand. seriously. I could put it right here on my property. and i would make a killing. even if it was just selling to my own dang family. LOL
ONe day I swear I will do it. I just have to get the 3 grand start money. We keep swearng that we are going to buy our own fireworks wholesale and get 4 times the bang for our buck. Thats how this family thinks, not "lets buy X amount like always but spend 500.00 less" its "okay, lets pool the 800.00 we USUALLY spend, and buy 75% MORE fireworks!"

Re: What cha doin for new years?
I usually stay in and invite the nieces and nephews over so their parents can go out. Before you think I'm all nice and everything, this is how I get my family photos and commercial shots of the kids, lol. I indulge them all night long and then the next morning I begin the photo shoot.
But this year, I think I'm going to Wendy and Carl's party. Good food, drink and Texas Hold'em all night long. Then it's gearing up for the Rose Bowl!!!! Then the Orange Bowl!!!! Then the Cotton Bowl!!!!

This year having the family in for Prime rib dinner- rather a quiet New Year. At our age we may not be up to see the New Year in.

Re: What cha doin for new years?
We always cook a whole lot of hors d’oeuvres and crack open a couple of bottles of wine here. It's kind of our night to unwind after the holidays.
Re: What cha doin for new years?
Hubby just called and got us very early dinner reservations tomorrow night at our favorite restaurant. This will be the last day they're open until next spring. We may go to a movie later in the evening.

Re: What cha doin for new years?
I wish y'all would come. I am about to scream. LOL
DAH just called, he needs to get some extra oil off the field, so he wont be home early, told everyone to be here around 3. Now I have to BBQ. and make the dips and such, and keep the house clean, and .... oh yeah. Keep these damn kids out of the fireworks... we all know how they might decide to blow something up...
I am suprised a stink bomb hasnt already went off in the house...
I mean other than Bow.
Maybe I should try to wait tillnext New Years to stop smoking..
