I do agree with you pearly in that I don't think that I should blame it on my family that I cannot attend for that night. I was thinking about that myself. I will just have him tell them or tell them myself that one night is enough for me.
I am thinking about offering to host next year, that way I can be nice, but still have things the way I want because I would be the one hosting.. They have mentioned in the past if I wanted to have it here that it would be okay. I didn't because at that time their kids were babies and I thought it best that they shouldn't have to drag their babies in and out of the cold. If we did that I would be guaranteed to have Christmas the way I want every other year and they could do it their way every other year, so we would be compromising on BOTH sides..

Oh believe me Tara, I have to say that i do get crabby with hubby for not standing up to them! He's been catching hell since the whole birthday planning thing started and hasn't stopped catching it since. I'm not like his sisters though, but I get my digs in. He did stand up to them once and actually yelled and hung up on the more evil SIL and even broke the phone doing it. We didn't hear from her for over 6 months that time. That was the year we got married because when he told her we were getting married she told him to get out of here as soon as possible..that burned his butt and then they proceeded to have a very nasty and heated argument of which my husband did win. So I know he will do it for the super important stuff, he just hates to get a war going on if it's something that can be avoided somehow. I dont' blame him, if my sis' were that way I might try to avoid it. I just keep telling him if you are going to please someone out of all of us, think about the person who prepares your food. They have plenty of opportunity to poison it, and I give him a wink

Kelly, I like the idea of doing some of it yourself so you can have it your way. That makes a lot of sense to me. Just be sure to tell them that they can get you gift certificates to the grocery as a means of chipping in, LOL!

Seriously, my rule of thumb is that if I would not stand for someone to treat my child this way when he/she grows up, then I better not stand for someone to treat ME this way. My kids are looking at me and watching to see what the right way to handle a situation is. If they see me being abused and not standing up for myself, then they might not stand up for themselves if/when someone abuses them.

I agree, I don't mess with food, there are better ways to get my digs in....

OH and I do agree about doing it at your house. I MUCH prefer to do that. I cant wait until my house is big enough to start doing it again. Cause I am tired of deal ing with all the crap from my mother.

I think we should all get together, chelle you can invite your mom, I can invite my SILs and everyone from here can invite who irks them the most. Then all of us can sit on one side and make all of them sit on the other side and we can watch them all tick each other off. Karen you are right that I could not stand someone treating Wynonna the way I allow my SILs to treat me, the good thing is that she does have less of a tolerance level than i did at her age. I know she wouldn't put up with anything for very long, and my son too. What can I say I am just a glutton for punishment. I keep telling my mom that somewhere. some way, something must happen to make up for all of this. So my thought is this, that if I have to put up with all this crap now, that in my next life I better be drop dead gorgeous, skinny and have perfect boobs!

Before Kris and I ended up together a little over 8 years ago, I was having unbeeelieevable bad luck in men. I told my mom that if my luck didn't change that I was going to hunt down the nearest gay man I could find. I figured even if we didn't have sex, that I could cry on his shoulder, he would never tell me I look fat, and I would never have to worry about shaving my legs ( I have such a screwy sense of humor)
