teacher gift question Empty teacher gift question

Post by mrschia Mon Dec 01, 2008 2:34 pm

I was wondering if you all could help me with the dollar gift card amount that is appropriate for my kid’s teachers for Christmas. They are in the same class and they have a teacher and assistant teacher.

I am new at this since they are both in Pre K this year 3 mornings a week.

Thank you for your help!

I usually do $10 per teacher, or per kid if 2 are on one class.

I usually give a small gift that costs about 10.00

if you are thinking about gift cards, how about doing a 'movie night' bucket? get a thing of microwave popcorn, a GC for a few movie rentals, a soda, some candy etc. and putting it in.

or a 'relaxing evening' a basket wiht some bathsalts, a few votive candles and a lotion

or

a 'pick me up' a basket wiht the neat coffee creamers that are out right now, (holiday flavors), and a cute coffee cup. or passes for 2 free coffees from the local coffee house,

My kids teachers are getting flameless candles, a votive that is flameable for home, a can of OUst, some lotion, mechanical pencils, a cofffee cup warmer, and some other stuff that I have picked up for free wiht coupons and sales. just a jumbled basket of everything I can think of, stuff that might come in handy but it irks you to buy cause its so expensive.

and I just hate to give gift cards.. LOL I always feel so cheap. If I give someone a 25.00 card, I feel like it was never enough, but I can spend 5.00 getting someone something on sale and if its something useful or they would like I dont feel like I gyped them.

weird I know.... LOL

OH and y'all remember to make bags of 'reindeer food' for your little ones classes!!

Mix Oatmeal and glitter (or if you are worried about animals eating it, oatmeal and candy sprinkles), in a paper bag, and then tape it up, write Reindeer FOod on the outside and write a little poem, or instructions for the kids.. MIne LOVED doing this.

I dont rememeber the poem I did, its been so long ago.

Heres your Reindeer Treats
save it for Christmas Eve ,
Just sprinkle it on the lawn,
And it will be gone by dawn!

or

We all Remeber cookies for Santa
Milk and a Note,
But what about the Reindeer who pull the sleigh?
Sprinkle this outside to make their day!

I dont know, and with this headache and Rayley tlking nonstop I cant think to save my life.

I'm cheaper. I make them cookies and/or let the kids make them a card.

I am in the same boat! But thank you for giving me ideas chelle!

I think I might go with the flameless candle type stuff or movie night.

I went to Dollar Tree a few weeks ago and picked up the cutest cards for Timmy to pass out to the kids in his class. His teacher is getting me a list of the kid's names so that I can have him write his name on them. Gotta start now, so I can do a few at a time. Don't want to overwhelm him. lol

I never heard of the reindeer thing, but I think I will try it. Timmy is really getting into the Christmas thing this year, and I want to help him have fun.
