Keep in mind I worked midnights last night, came home and slept for a couple of hours, then had a bowl of rice krispies and some apple sauce at 2 PM.

I dont cook about 2 nights a week. the kids get sandwiches, raman noodles. chips with cheese melted on them. what ever is in the cabinets.

They can all have the same thing or differtn things.

Even the 3 year old get to pick.

Either I or the boys (ages 7 adn 9 ) will help her make hers.

If there is some cooking to be done, ( heat up watr in the microwave) I do it. If not they do it all.

and my boys have been makeing their own school lunches since they were 6. I made them the first week of school and they griped I wasnt doing it right or would whine cause I didnt put what they liked in there. OR forget it on purpose.

So I started makign them do it. They still forget them sometimes, but there is no more of that "there wass too much peaunut butter on my sandwhich"

or "I hate those chips" , "I dont like tropical punch kool aide"

Smile

AND scrounging for food in the cabinets is MUCH cheaper than ordering in. Smile

It's really tempting chelle! I'm thinking about doing some mac & cheese and letting them pick what to have with it.

LOL tara!! NO fair, I want some pizza!!

Its wierd to cook around here. I have to cook meals of course, but BR leaves at 2pm, the kids get here at 5pm and BR wakes up at noon. So I have to cook a meal for him and them, its essetially his breakfast, but their supper and then he eats the left overs when he gets home anywhere from 3am to 7am.

And of course with 4 kids you always cook something someone doesnt like. SO that kid makes a sandwich. I go through about 5 loaves of bread a week. Minimum. If I make a meal that calls for sliced bread, ( like tuna fish, or chicken salad) I buy 2 loaves just for that meal.

I should add a new option to the poll -- Go to Tara's house!
We usually have a take out night on Fridays since my husband works 9 - 5 and I work midnights the night before. By the time I pick the kids up from my parents' place around 4 there's no time or want to cook. I do usually cook every other night of the week though.
The kids made sandwiches and had some veggies with them. Dh is making himself something and I'm still undecided. I guess I'm not ready to eat yet since I just had breakfast at 2.

LOL, better hurry, hubby will have it polished off in about 30 seconds (even though he said he was full 2 slices ago).
I cook, five times a week, but we eat it at lunch time. My husband works second shift so thats the only time we all eat at once. Poor Saige ends up with a sandwich or soup for dinner almost every night because my high maintenance son will wail uncontrollably the entire time I make anything requiring more time, so I try to avoid that at all costs when hubby isn't here to console him. He is such an unhappy baby, 8 months old and I look at him all day and think crawl damn it! I need him to crawl, I haven't had a minute to myself. he doesn't sleep either 9 out of 24 hrs... and 4 hours at the most. It's thrown me for a loop, I don't know what to do with him, I'm really a no BS kind of person and he is determined to push me over the edge. If I had had him first he would be an only child, lol.

Ok I'm done complaining about my kid... for now.

Oh and I guess I'll have to miss out on the pizza and settle for bologna and cheese here. I don't think I'll make it across the border fast enough to get there in time.

One thing I've been loving about my life recently is that my oldest (14, boy) has taken an interest in cooking. He comes home from school and instead of just grabbing a snack starts fixing a lasagna. Of course, I'm still responsible for cleaning up after, not to mention shopping and teaching him recipes, but still... food, real food, that just appears as if by magic.

I voted for take-out by the way. I just love when someone else cooks.

ahhh I remember those days.. When my kids were home, they helped to cook..

I sent all four of them, three sons and one daughter into the world with cooking ability, sewing.. enough to mend and hem...
drive.. and anything else I could teach them.

They were all good at it! They helped in the house too.. so much more to do with them gone.. and so much less fun for me
I miss them . a lot

they all live in different states.. Crying or Very sad

Unfortunately my 5 year old has taken an interest in cooking. I have to start everything way in advance now because I'm garenteed to have a helper.

I am lucky, God knew that I couldnt handle a colicy, spittin up, whiney baby. Not this time around. Having the drama queen is bad enough. LOL

Brett and matt my oldest boys (9 and 7) were okay babies, as was Rayley. But they spit up from the day they were born. I kid you not. It was awful. everything stunk.

One of the first things I said when I found out I was preg this time was "OH NO, I cant handle 6 months of smelling like rotten milk!" The other was "OH HELLNO! I aint buying another vehicle.. I cant loose my truck. WHat am I gona do??!! "

BR said there was a 6th seatbelt in this one. My old truck didnt have one. LOL

I do have to sit and hold this one. He is rotten. I put him in a sling when I really need to get up and he wont sit in the bouncy seat. All my others lived on mylacon. If it wernt for that I would have never made it! LOL

Of course with a 3 year old girl I am at my wits end anyway. I swear, this child is an actress in training. I just Thank God for another boy. As bad as mine are, I couldnt handle another Princess of criesalot..

Post by tara Sun Mar 16, 2008 10:13 pm

I wish I could keep my three year old three, lol. I was definably blessed in that dept. she has always been a really great, almost too easy. I was a nanny before I had my own... so technically Rylan is my 5th baby (second boy). Nicer thought I would think my kid was worse than someone else's, lol. After I the other two girls (0-5 and 0-7) when I first found out I pregnant I wanted a boy in the worse way, my second pregnancy I was secretly hoping for another girl, it was way easier than I remembered, lol. Of course she will do doubt put me through hell and make up for it as a teenager.... she could entertain herself for hours if I let her. He can't for 2 minutes and he wants undivided attention. It is getting annoying to carry him around every where now that he is so grabby, I'm constantly prying something from him and he wont stop pulling my hair- I'd pull his right back if he had some, I'm amazed I don't have bald spots, it hurts!

I'm confused on how to slow time so I can enjoy my little girl a little longer and speed it up at the same time so I can enjoy him a whole lot more. Infant stage is the worse give me em walking and talking any day, okay well at least walking, lol.
