Great Wolf Lodge Empty Great Wolf Lodge

Post by mrschia Mon Jun 02, 2008 1:46 pm

We are headed there on Thursday for a long weekend and a wedding. I am packing now and wondering what I am forgetting. This is my 1st time there and DH and I are bringing the 2 four year olds....our first road trip and hotel together...YIKES, are we nuts?

I do have the portable DVD player we just bought, any other suggestions?

DH has the kiddos at the zoo so I have some much needed time to myself..Oh happy day!

Boys or girls? Matchbox cars are always a big hit with my boys. Added bonus is that they're not too loud and they don't take up a lot of room!

Have great patience!!! Have a small bag of surprises for the little ones- inexpensive, new things to hold their interest on the road. One thing we used to do was make a book of things to look for along the road. I would make small books using photos or pictures from books- things like a cow, horse, - would have to be quite simple for 2 year old. Then have them look for the items along the trip. Good luck , but most importantly, remember to have fun!

No wonder you love the troll dolls so much.. ROFLMAO!

For my kids, the DVD player ( find a movie they havent seen yet or in a long time, but nothing like barney so you have to listen to it. . one for on the way and one for on the way back)

Cars, and I always keep sidewalk chalk, it keeps rayley entertained at the ballpark and at my aunt and uncles hotel.

its short notice right now. but my 3 year old has a sansa shaker MP3 player.. its WONDERFUL! and she can run it. They come in pink and blue Smile

walgreens sells them. But you have to have time to DL songs to a SD card.

OK, this will sound stupid, but I have four kids and years ago I got sick of having every meal on a trip be pizza or at McDonalds OR having to pay for a nice sit down place that had nothing the kids would eat. We take a Fry Daddy to boil water in the hotel room, boxes of mac 'n cheese, a strainer, a metal spoon for serving and stirring, and paper plates and plastic forks. Then when we want to eat a dinner at a grown-up place, we fix the kids mac 'n cheese in the hotel room first (cooked in the bathroom with the door shut so they can't get burned), then they are calmer at the restaurant and will color or snack on an appetizer while we eat. If you're bringing an ice chest, you can also fix hot dogs. Add a bag of salad and it's a whole meal.

For in the car, bring snacks and spill proof cup (even if your kids are past the sippy cup stage), and I also pack paper and markers and books.
