the year 1982
If you were alive in 1982 then you'll love this.
my daughter is doing a project on what things were like in the year 1982, and we came across this.
enjoy.

OMG Rebecca! I GRADUATED in 82.. LOL... I feel SOOO old! I loved the solid gold dancers and SO wanted to be one! My first dd was born in 83 and I taught her all the valley girl sayings when she was old enough to talk and oh this was the same child that we turned into a cabbage patch baby for a local parade... I have pics of her in a wheelbarrow full of cabbage with little bows in her hair.. hey I think we got second place or something like that.. lol.... oh my my my!
Re: the year 1982
I was only 1 going on 2 in 1982, but I LOVE ANYTHING 80's!
My older brother won a cabbage patch doll in a raffle at school. Rather than sell it to the girls, he gave me my very first one! Wish I still had it.
Like, totally gag me with a spoon! No, way!! Like, totally, fer sure...
I can, like, totally, speak like a valley girl. It drives my friends nuts when I do it, cause I like, totally don't, like stop!!!
My favorite Christmas gift was a few years back my SO got me the VH1 movie, Totally Awesome. He knows how much I love the 80's. Labrynth, Breakfast Club, Blues Brothers, 16 Candles, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, neon pink.

I was an adult with 4 kids.. about to lose our home due to the shutdown of the steelmills...
over 20,000 people lost their jobs here along the ohio river. It was a nightmare! We packed up and moved to a state where we found work.

Re: the year 1982
LOL I graduated in '78 and got married in '85. My niece grew up watching the Solid Gold Dancers. In the video of our wedding reception you can really tell this fact! Her dancing was full of those Solid Gold flairs and poses at the end of each dance. She was 4 at the time. I need to drag that video out next time I see her, she'll love that.

Re: the year 1982
Just remembered...my mom bought my son a Cabbage Patch doll when he was young. It was a boy and it was "fear at first sight". Man, he hated that doll. My mom took it personally, she just didn't see how someone could resist them. Wish I could remember the doll's name. I'll ask him if he remembers!

Re: the year 1982
My cousins in Toronto were able to get Cabbage Patch Kids for my sister and I. They thought they were really doing something nice for us, but I was just never into them. So before we got them my mom had to talk me into liking them. I just thought they were stupid! I still have mine around somewhere -- I hardly ever played with her!
Re: the year 1982
I named mine (CPD) after my best friend at the time, Alayna. I really wonder what happened to her. Myspace and classmates might help me with that.
