Scott was asked by a friend of ours if he would mind very much to feed his miniature horses while he was out of town for a few days. Most are simply grazing in our field, and they don't need a thing. But one has been having some problems with it's leg (sorry, don't know if it's a him or a her) and a second one was very pregnant and due any day. Those two are not in our field, buy in his barn. So tonight, Scott took Caly with him to check on them and feed them, and when they got there, there was a brand new horse, only up to Caly's knees. It was maybe an hour old, and she got to be the first human to touch it. Mother and baby are doing well, and Caly seems to be dancing somewhere between Jupiter and Saturn.

That is just plain cool. Isn't it great to be a parent and see the wonder and excitement in the little one's eyes? Makes you appreciate the little things.

That is SO awesome.. I can remember to this day (and after the 1982 thread that is a LONG time) being the first to be around a colt and how special a feeling it is. It is so awesome that Caly gets to experience that feeling!

It's funny, because I thought the same thing I think when I see a human baby. I'm shocked at how little they are, and also shocked at how big they are when you consider where they were living a few days ago.

I have never been able to get over how long their mane grows. I keep tappers cut, but not too short. I need from the ears back to grab the little brat sometimes when he is running by me! LOL

I used to let it grow out. But the goof ball will get it tangled up in the fence. He aint got the sense God gave a goat.
