Just to make y'all with a fast connection feel real good about yourselves.

I am Downloading a spam program and its 7.68MB It is 13% done and will take me an additonal 2 hours and 3 minutes.

It is currently taking me well over 2 minutes and 13 seconds to load a page on this baord. LOL

Oh Chelle! We MUST get you off dial-up...

eww chelle.. i'll have to try to extent my cable to texas for you.. though i dread going through that 300+ miles of NOTHINGNESS there.. oi

LOL shoot girl, you are talking about WEST Texas. I am actually closer to Chicago than I am El Paso Seriously. and I live in DEEP south East Texas. LOL I am about an hour from the gulf. Maybe an hour and a half. I have more tree's than you can shake a stick at and lost half of them to the huricanne that never was

But it made y'all want to kiss your DSL line didnt it? LOL

Chelle you buy the cable and we can string my road runner from NY to Texas for you.

Did you get it downloaded? How long did it actually take? I can't imagine still using dial up. Especially now that I've had cable...it would drive me nuts! I don't have the patience.

maggie, because I live in the country and its not avalible. There is NOTHING avalible. I have the choice of dial up or satilite. I am very rural. I can barely even get local channels with an antanna. and it has to be a GOOD antanna.

fergui, I got it like 85% dl and got disconnected. I had to start ALL over. LOL

I guess I am lucky in that I have never had anything else. But its still agervating when its a 2 minute wait for a pageload. And usually that isnt even te entire page loaded, just enough for me to be able to navigate it

oh, I was dling for well over 6 hours. for that file and then one more. That was pretty small.

Chelle, can you get the Direct TV internet, or Dish? When my Mom lived in Spurger she had the DTV one......worth it.
I have RR, we could run a cable what.....50 miles or so?

Hi y'all from Tennesse! I live in amish country myself, (I am not amish ) And I can only get dial up or satellite, and satellite is soooo expensive. I Have been trying to download Yahoo mssngr. on my NEW LAPTOP and it just ain't happenin. I feel your pain.

edbson, no, I didnt see the car chase! I forget to watch the news if I dont tell the DVR to record it! LOL

and I can get satalite. Hughes net is cheaper than dishnetwork ( who I have) BUT its still high.

I actually can see a light at the end of the tunnel. I was approcahed to put a tower on my land. and then I can get a wireless card.

BUT I dont knwo WHEN they will get it done.

If I had 400 extra bucks I would buy a 'booster' to bring in signal and go ahead and get the card. Since it could be a year or more till they put in the tower!

Actually once I got rid of the extra phone line, ISP and such, and bought the card and paid for the extra a month to use it, it would take me 8 months to break even and then I would be saving 40.00 a month. its just getting the 400.00 ... LOL

Much cheaper to sting RR from your house to mine! LOL

Clearwire has that wireless modem thing for around $30 a month.. have you checked to see if it would work for you? My son has it for his laptop and loves it.

So far today I have DQ'd out of an 8 dollar survey, a 5 dollar survey. plus 3 unknown surveys (could be product tests, money or sweeps) and cant do Tara's deal on free pictures. All because I keep timing out. and it takes too long to upload and dl stuff. LOL

Brandi, no. I dont. I have At & t. I can stand in certain places, turn th ephone upside down and get enough bars to send a text. LOL BUT verizen and sprint work here just fine.

But switching isnt an option. I have 5 phones on my plan (mom, mil, fil, myself and hubby) and none of the contracts expire at the same time. LOL

The only reason I asked was getting an air card which would give you a bit better speed than dial up. It has its pros and cons thoughh too

Brandi, yes, and I plan on getting one. I have been approached about them putting a tower on my land. I said "HELL YES" LOl

And that is why I was looking into the booster thing. it will take a bad signal and turn it into a great signal. I have researched them on the net and they really seem to work.

SO YES, my goal is to get an air card.

BUT since I have AT & T I cant just get a verizen one. or a Sprint one. with one you have to be a current customer, with the other ... I cant remember why I cant get one. maybe its the same thing..

AtT&T will let any person have one. coustomer or not.

I feel good about myself today! Got another Pt in the mail- thats three this week. Also spent the $50.00 I got for the best joke on another forum. Best of all, I am in the middle of a great book- I can always lose or find myself in a book. Have another $50.00 due any day from a focus group- I have done well this year so far. As a stay at home mom now, I do a lot of these things. Wish I could have found out about them a long time ago.

I feel good about myself today because I got up on the right side of the dirt as people say and I am happy today- have a hubby that loves me, family that love me- who could ask for more!!!
