What are your Father's Day plans?

I called my dad yesterday and asked if he wanted to come visit for a few days. I told him we'd take him out to dinner tonight. As for DH - we wrapped up some Detroit Tigers branded salted peanuts and some Cracker Jacks and printed up a card promising a Tigers game this summer...along with their home game schedule.

Anyone have any surprises planned for their dads/hubbies?

The kids made cards for Mike yesterday (Sam's class hadn't made anything because one of his classmates recently lost his dad in a car crash so his teacher kept Father's Day low key and Devon's class didn't make anything because his teacher is just not very ambitious). We had bought Mike some clothes he needed so the boys gave him their cards along with the gift. Then Devon helped me make a big brunch. We'll be going out for supper in a little while and then other than calling my dad that will be it.

We had a BBQ with both sets of parents, so hubby could play with his new grill. Saige's last soccer game of the season was this afternoon, came home and cleaned up from the BBQ. Bathed the kids got them to bed.... so ready for next week already. Thursday is the last day of school and I need a break! I think I spend more time there than a few of them that are actually getting paid, lol.

Nothing here.My dad went out to dinner with my b.... sister her husband ,my nieces and nephew. I stayed home.No biggie.I have been in shock all day though.I have two neighbors that lost their husbands about 10-15 yrs ago and they are SILs.Grace has been very sick for years and she is older than Maria,who has always been in very good shape for her age.I heard a few days ago that Grace passed away.I felt bad for her but I figured that she has been so sick so in a way she's at rest now. Today I found out that it was actually Maria that passed!I just can't believe it.She even had a boyfriend and looked great for 82? They said that she went into the hospital(I don't know for what) and never came out.So shocking

I'm sorry to hear about your neighbors, Athena. It's happened so much recently where people have seemed to go before their time. Last month we went to the funeral service of DH's high school classmate's oldest child. She was a senior in high school and was alone in her car texting when she died. It was so sad - they used her gorgeous senior photos at the grave site service and on her obituary cards.

I took Mike fishing, and sent my Dad a gift....no huge plans really

About 5 yrs ago my mother's friend from Greece came by.Her daughter lived across the street from me,I knew who she was but I never really met her.She was about a yr or two older than me.So her mother says to me,"you remember my daughter right?" I'm like yeah of course.She says"She died" My mouth dropped.She said that her daughter was with friends in Greece ,she wasn't feeling well so she went to lie down and she never woke again.I think from what I understood that she had an aneurism that burst. It's so freaky,so scary!
