Plans For Independence Day? Empty Plans For Independence Day?

Post by Scar Thu Jul 03, 2008 6:39 pm

My fellow Americans:

How do you plan to celebrate Independence Day?

Fireworks? Cook-Outs? Swimming? Watermelon?

So far we haven't decided; as with almost everything in my life - my plans are contingent on whether or not my daughter comes & gets her kids.

We have my 2 sets of brothers and sisters in law coming over. We will BBQ, do fireworks and have 3 35-40 pound watermelons to cut.

we are having ribs, tater salad, baked beans, baconwrapped green beans and Dr Pepper.

And right now I have to go and clean up the yard. Since noone else ever has time to do it. GGGGGGGGRRRRRRRR

Chelle, that is one hell of a lot of watermelon!

I'm working tomorrow, but hoping to cut out early as I just finished 10 days in a row.

Weather permitting, I'm taking my son to meet my best friend and her family ...... to Busch Gardens for a Chubby Checker concert (yep, he's still playing!) and fireworks.

Either going to hit a bar with a friend in Providence or go to my sister's cookout, maybe both! Hope everyone enjoys the holiday, spends some quality time with friends and family, and has a chance to see some fireworks!

Getting my son a sandbox in the morning and then in the afternoon, head downtown to catch the parade. Then watch the fireworks. Will most likely be just the 3 of us, being there are not many we know in this town, and those we do know already have plans.

But Saturday, we will be dogsitting for the neighbors for 2 nights, so that will be fun. Trying to get some friends that live a little south of me to come in and BBQ.

Mine will be kinda of boring...no cookouts, oldest daughter is in Ohio for the summer visiting family...the 2 babies are not old enough to enjoy fireworks...one may even be frightened because she doesn't like loud noises, so we aren't going... No cookouts, Plans For Independence Day? 88315 I wanna hamburger and bacteria infested potato salad that has sat out for hours!!!!

but we do plan on going to Walmart! Woohoo, my life will be complete. It will be a 4th to remember, I'm so excited that I can't sleep so I'm up after midnite on the internet...

On a serious note though, sometimes low key with the hubby and babes is nicer than a wired out holiday full of crying and whining due to heat, over stimulation and exhaustion. (and I'm talking about me, not the kiddos...lol)

We are going fishing, and since we just paid $180 to renew our La. Fishing licenses it is gonna be a LOOOONG trip!
After that we will do some fireworks with the kidlets, drink a beer or two, and watch the neighbors blow up something.

I agree. If we cookout it will be just us. And the swimming is at the park where they have the fireworks, so it won't be an extra event, just more of the same. The only part that I'm not sure about is the baby. He's been super fussy lately, so I may just skip that part of the evening and stay home with him while Scott takes everyone else.

So after a long trip to La you are comin to see me? LOL Actually I am hopeing we dont blow anything up this year. The kids caught a tree on fire last year with the roman candles. LOL But it went out pretty quickly. They get a kick out of the 'preditor' thing with the roman candles and that tree.. My poor magnolia (the only one left after the huricanne that never was, and its only 1/2 left) is never going to thrive... LOL

We dont plan on swimming, unless it rains while we are outside eating the 100 pounds of watermelon I have sittin on the table. And BR threatened to give Bow a HUGE slice today. GGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRR.

I almost got the yard cleaned up today, I will finish it tommorow. We have to mow before everyone shows up. you cant even see the pit right now.

And I have to send the kids out to find fire wood. Which isnt hard. we have like 13 cords sitting out behind the shed. Then BR got tired of cutting it up and is just letting it rot. LOL
