need some christmas gift help...
Every year for christmas, my grandparents get each family a gift certificate to a restaurant(Usually Outback Steakhouse...ugh, that idea is getting old).
My aunt and her family have moved to Troy, Montana recently...
So I'm trying to come up with some kind of gift certificate idea for them because well Outback Steakhouse hasn't been conveinent for them for a long time(although the grandparents still insist on getting them Outback).
My googling hasn't been very successful in finding a place to get them a gift certificate that wouldn't be a super long drive or well McDonalds or Pizza Hut(nothing wrong with those places, but they wouldn't want giftcards to there).
So I'm looking for any suggestions...
I'm thinking maybe something that can be shipped to them and that they just have to cook it...

Re: need some christmas gift help...
Hmm, I don't have any experience with that type of thing but QVC and HSN have "gourmet" food or dessert gifts that you could have sent. I've seen some really yummy looking meals/desserts on there. Some arrive frozen/precooked and you just reheat them in the oven. Some you have to cook..etc... Another one I've heard of would be Omaha Steak but I haven't bought food from any of the places that I've listed above. Figi's does meat, cheese, desserts.....I can't think of any more offhand, I'm sure someone on here will be able to list others or give first hand accounts of ordering from the ones I listed above.

I would recommend Omaha Steaks. They are good...a bit pricey, but they do have variety packages available. I know they have gift certificates available because I've used MyPoints points to purchase them.

If I lived in Montana I would want a LobsterGram! If I lived anywhere at all I would want a LobsterGram!

I have ordered from them before. The meals are very memorable. I have been giving their certificates for a meal for 2 as wedding gifts. Not cheap, but with the certificate, they can choose a soup, a seafood cake, a main course, and a dessert, so they get the whole meal. And the shipping is included in the price of the certificate, so the recipient doesn't have to pay anything out of pocket.
Here's a link to the certificate that I like. It's called "Create-A-Gram" and it runs about $150 for 2 or $250 for 4. It includes shipping (high, because this is fresh).

Re: need some christmas gift help...
We've both sent and received Omaha Steaks and never had a bad report. I think you can even select a meal that includes twice-baked potatoes.
Re: need some christmas gift help...
I also have sent and received Omaha steaks. They are always good. My gift recipients have reported the stuffed sole is very good as well as the twice baked potatoes. Those were two items I was unsure of, but they went over well. They also have cheesecakes and molten lava chocolate cakes that have been well received. I just ordered a few days ago and got lots of mypoints & all this food:

Great deal, kleenaechs. We get our beef from the 4-H auction every year or I'd be tempted.

Re: need some christmas gift help...
the lobstergram looks super tasty, but too expensive to feed a family of 5(including 2 college boys that never seem to get full).
I think I'm going to suggest Omaha steaks and getting them a gift certificate for there.
Its either that or a gift basket full of stuff of local stuff that they don't have in Montana...they've announced that they will be here for christmas(they need to thaw out a bit from the single digits and lots of snow), so won't ahve to worry about getting it to them.
