Okay, a friend of mine called, he had taken a wilton class and wanted my help with a bridal shower cake-

I said okay-

The bride and groom run a farm, and sell all their produce- They even started a farmers market here in town. first one in years.

so this is what we did.

EVERYTHING is edible except the wooden sawhorses to hold it up.

They sell things out of baskets, on peices of plywood put on sawhorses covered witha checkered table cloth.

Thank you soo much! Smile it was a very fun cake to make- and other than a few screw ups on the tablecloth- there were NO problems!!

It did take 2 of us 8 hours each just to decorate what you see- that doesnt include making the cake or the saw horses. I'd say that was a 20 man hour cake at least. Smile

While on FB this morning, saw that your friend had tagged you in an album, so looked at all the photos... it was interesting to see the cake going together....

I saw that too! I bet you both learned so much working with each other. Everytime I do something with someone, I learn from them. And since she had a class and you are self-taught, I bet you each had your own techniques for doing all the stuff.

Thanks Smile and sadly karen, he only took one class and didnt know a thing about fondant at all-Thatswhy he asked me to help, he didnt know how to do any of it Smile

He only learned how to use some tips and such- and there was no icing work to be done, Sad he did say he would teach me how to make a buttercream rose one day. LOL

I saw it on FB and was wondering about those sawhorses! I would love to do something similar for the cake contest at school next year but I just couldn't see myself constructing those sawhorses!

Connie, the sawhorses were SIMPLE. THey were made from tomato stakes.

Also, in the wilton book, 'Celebrate with fondant' there is a picnic table with a bench, it has hamburgers and hotdogs on it. but its cute as can be. and gives some instructions on the cake construction. Smile
