Although I "think"I know my geography, it's a good experiece for me to know people (well not know, but sorta of) who live in areas beyond my geographical knowledge. I'm referring to you you who live in NS.... the storm, your postings, have encouraged me to read articles, look at maps. and realize how close you are to the NE USA. I'm glad so far you're all safe, and hopefully won't have this or other exerpeiences anytime soon. Most people would never think about a hurricane leaving the atlantic and hitting Canada territories (is NS a terrority?) Guess there's an advantage to living waaaay inland!

Nope, Nova Scotia is a province, not a territory. Razz
We don't get severe weather that often so when it does come, it is a real shock to our system. Very Happy

Although the last couple of years have given us a few hurricanes and our area was hit by a tornado last year, which scared the hell out of me.
We also have severe snow storms and frigid teperatures in the winter.
No, we don't live in igloos and all speak french. Razz Razz

Edited to add: Nova Scotia is not inland. We are right on the Atlantic Ocean and the Bay of Fundy is my view when I look out my front window.
BTW: The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the world so you can imagine how rough the water was during the hurrice.

I can say, that since the weekend, I do now know where NS is... I've been to Montreal, and thought/think that is the only French speaking area in Canada (is NS part of Canada? I'm not totally knowledgeable).... and sorry, but we found the people of MOntreal very unfriendly to us US citizens.,

anyway, I'm just glad that you didn't get hit as bad as Bill could have hit.... too bad about the one death, but sounds like the people didn't heed the warnings. Very happy that all our UB memebers lost no more than a few limbs!

Yes we are part of Canada.
We are the most eastern province.
I am sorry you had a poor experience in Montreal.
Try to remember that there are rude/mean people everywhere.

Whenever we have company from another area, we always take them to the bay to watch to tide come in or go out.
I still find it amazing to watch.

I can imagine, I have always wanted to see it. We also have the Bore, so it is fascinating to watch. There are only a handful of places on the planet that have it
