Well, I said I wouldn''t coach t-ball this year, but...
... the league convenor called and begged and I caved. Last year I had parents who wouldn't help -- well except for the one with a baby on her hip who should have been the one allowed to sit down, but this year's looking brighter. I had a whole bunch of parents just jump up and pitch in. What a relief! I'm not dreading it nearly so much now!

That's good news for you. I think if they didn't help out I'd put my foot down.

I can relate! Every year DH said this was going to be the year when he let someone else step up to coach hockey and he'd sit in the stands. And he always caved, usually because there was noboby else who would do it, but somethimes because the alternative was someone we would not have wanted coaching our son. And the older the kids got the more training hours the coaches need, and it got to the point that even if someone had wanted to step up it would have been hard to get in all the necessary training.
I'm glad you have a more involved bunch of parents this year. Things run so much more smoothly when you have the parents working with you.

It's amazing how a few parents helping can make all the difference in the world. When we did cub scouts with Zaven and Caly (who hated brownies so just attended all the cub scout meetings and did their activities instead), our den was falling apart until we got some active parents. Then things made a complete 180 and we were the most active den. I really enjoyed my turn as den mom because it didn't all fall on my shoulders. But when our kids were out of it and that group of parents left, no one would take over. Scott stayed on as the pack leader for a year and a half afterwards until he could convince someone to step up.
