Woke up to a surprise this morning

I am usually up before 8am any given morning. I did the same thing I always do of a morning. I even opened the blinds in the kitchen that look out to the back yard. I went back into the living room and opened those blinds and stood looking out. I could see part of an ambulance down the street, but didn't think anything of it. There are several elderly people down the street. It's raining out, and as I am standing there I heard something I didn't know what the noise was. I also seen smoke in the air and thought why would someone be burning now (there is no burning until after 4pm), or was it fog. Well, it hit me...the noise I was hearing was fire hydrants...I ran to the front porch, and seen the ambulance had moved to block the cross street off. Soooo, I ran to the back yard, and sure enough a neighbors house is on fire.
How the heck I slept through all that is beyond me. And I didn't even see it when I opened the kitchen blinds.

Oh no, that's awful! I hope the neighbors are all ok and the fire is under control.

I don't know any details. I don't even know the people who lived there. The fire is out, but the house is destroyed.

I'm glad the fire is out! I hope the owners are ok.

Here's a pic. This is just the back of the house. There are Little Tykes toys out in the back yard. It is rental property, and the renters change very frequent, so I don't know who they are. I too hope they got out and are all okay. The fire department is still there. I seen them spraying water in the top of the house from the other side.

Thats awful! I pray everyone is okay and they didnt loose everything.

The house behind my Dads Blew up, literally, crap flew several blocks and he slept thru it, less than 100 feet away. Broke all the windows in his house. It was a natural gas explosion.

I found out through my mom (the house that burnt is almost directly behind her), that they have 4 kids, but they were not there last night, thankfully. Everyone is safe, and the woman's grandmother just lives right around the corner from them, so they have a place to stay for now. I'm not sure if that is where the kids were or not last night.
I guess this fire started about 4:45 this morning. I can not believe I did not hear anything. I usually hear anything that moves.

A friend of ours and her husband have a scanner and heard it this morning. She woke up Joe to see what street we lived on, she knows where we live she just couldn't remember the exact one. She told me she came by on her way to work this morning to make sure it wasn't us.

Wow! I'm glad no one was home. It's terrible that they lost their stuff, but not as bad as it could have been.

Wow, that house looks totaled. They were very lucky not to be there!

The mom and dad were there, the kids were not though.
