I need advice..
Is there any way to politely exclude children from a party? Kind of a wedding shower/house warming type adult drinking party.
When you invite a couple, and address the invite to the couple only is that enough?
Some friends of ours are getting married, and we are having a wedding shower for them, they JUST bought a house yesterday, and want to have it there.

Re: I need advice..
well people are stupid. Addressing just to the adults SHOULD be enough but you are bound to get someone who thinks their kids are them. I would put adult only. It saves the phone calls of can my kids come? and just plain stupid people who will bring them anyway without asking. I don't think it's rude to exclude children (as long as ALL children are excluded... I have a friend who has all sorts of adult only gatherings but lets HER kids come) from a wedding. Now if it were a 5 yea olds b-day party it might be rude to say no kids but....
Re: I need advice..
I would put "come join us for a kid free time and a carefree night!"
You are invited to enjoy a few drinks, and lots of adult fun on May 3rd, at Joe and Barbras new house!!
So line up a babysitter, get out your dancin shoes, and pick up your favorite libation, head on over and lets celebrate their marriage!!

Re: I need advice..
LOL Chelle.
The reason is, 1) they don't have kids, and 2) their new home and brand spankin new furniture is not "kid friendly".3) I am not taking my brat, so noone else can either dangit!

Re: I need advice..
You don't need a reason. If you're throwing the party, you get to decide who is invited.edbson wrote:LOL Chelle.

LOL Lucky. I am actually close enough that I could hire out
I agree with Karen. They have that right. and you can either
a) be blunt. "this is an adult only event"
or
2.) be fun about it.
In the above post I mentioned it at least 3 times that kids were NOT welcome. So I am betting that if you did it that way, you would have one in 50 show up with their kids.

Re: I need advice..
I agree with Chelle (great wording on that hypothetical invite) and Karen... it's your party, invite who you want.
And don't apologize for it... just let them know, it's a couples thing, or a girl thing, or whatever.
And I would have done a quote... but for the life of me, UB is acting weird today... I don't have the wonderful deep blue, I don't have the yellow stars, nor do I have a quote button ... grrrrr, probably just my computer getting ready to 86.
