Re: The stomach "flu" Update NP
I understand what you are saying.
Thats part of the reason I hate taking mine. Its not worth my blood pressure going up to be told I am an idiot.
PLUS, I never spend less than 100.00 to see them. You'd think for that, they'd at least pretend I was important! LOL
I know you have tried everything, but have you just tried yogurt and or fruit cocktail? FC is a WONDERFUL thing for illness. It has electrolites and calories. Plus most kids LOVE it.

Re: The stomach "flu" Update NP
I picked my son up last monday from school, not feeling well. By the time we got home he had the high, my face and ears are bright red, fever and puking. Took him to the doc on Tuesday, as his glands swelled up. Got the same thing you did from the doc. Strep test and then said "I've seen sooo many of these kids, he's got what everyone else does. No strep, it's the flu. Don't give him any medicine unless he can't sleep, then give him Tylenol." He had that high fever through Thursday evening, off and on, more on than off. Friday he had a bad chest cough, and was weak still. So he lost all week of school. He was miserable.
Now we've spent 2 nights up until 11 pm trying to makeup all the darn homework they piled on the kid. If he doesn't relapse from lack of sleep it will be a miracle. We still don't have all the homework done.

I didn't know about fruit cocktail. If he still has really bad diarrhea today, then I'll have to try that. Zach loves yogurt, but when he is sick, he will not eat it! Nothing I can do can get him to eat it.
I would think that if you were paying at least $100 each time you went to the doctor you would be treated better for sure!
Oh no Lucky! I hope he catches up on his homework soon and can start getting to bed at a reasonable hour!

Dawn, aside from foods that have the opposite effect on the diarrhea, I say let him eat small portions of whatever you can get in him. Almost anything is better than nothing. Just be sure he keeps up the good fluids.
Lucky- I hope feels better and you avoid it!

He seemed to wake up intent on eating everything in the house (which I would gladly take). So far today (and it's only 12:30), he has eaten 2 pieces of bread (one with peanut butter, the other with margarine), almost 2 bowls of cheerios, a small cup of trail mix, and now I am cooking him an egg! He hasn't had a BM yet today, but I'm taking that as good news!

Awesome! I'm so relieved. My son is also very thin and I would have been very worried to have him not eat hardly anything for a week.

Thanks guys, it's just horrible to have kids sick.
Rice is great for diahrea also, and it fills their tummies.
