Re: Back into the Deep Freeze we go
all you guys in your weird measurements, it always tricks me up, I have to stop and think. LOL
Re: Back into the Deep Freeze we go
ours is due tomorrow night. I kinda wish for a snow day, I want to sleep in.
Re: Back into the Deep Freeze we go
Wellllllll, the storm is upon us. It is snowing like hell.
It is supposed to change to freezing rain/ice pellets in a couple of hours.
I hope school is cancelled. The roads will be a mess.

Re: Back into the Deep Freeze we go
I am back. Thanks for the well wishes everyone. Our area was hit very hard, but we are making it. Lucky for us, the worst of it hit a few miles south of us. DH got out yesterday and said it was a huge mess in town. WalMart had just reopened when all power went back out. I doubt they had much to sell anyway. When I went mid day Monday, the shelves were getting empty then!!

Re: Back into the Deep Freeze we go
Our Wal-mart was closed, too. Glad to know you made it through OK.
Re: Back into the Deep Freeze we go
parts of my county got hit really bad with ice, still several thousand w/o power. some not expected to get it back before the middle of feb. just can't imagine. and i compained about a 1 hour power outage! shame on me.
my town has benefited... as counties surrounding us are totally down, some not even able to get water due to water plant losing power and not being able to get back up... so stores here, restaurants, gas stations (particularly if they sell kerosene) are zoos. i had to go out today and when i saw the traffic trying to turn into the only road to walmart... knew i wouldn't be going there. kroger not so bad, nor aldi's... so got everything i needed (basically just stuff for a couples bunco party tomorrow night).
my gosh, traffic like i've never seen before here! 43 today, much melting... and of course, as ice melts off trees, branches/limbs and trees continue to topple, taking down more wire.
our county and several around us have been declared diaster areas... national guard from louisville showed up today, trucks coming in from ft. campbell bringing generators, food, water and other supples (that thru the diaster fund)

Re: Back into the Deep Freeze we go
It hasn't started here yet, they say this afternoon, it's actually still semi nice, cold but nice. After going on for a week how this was going to be the worst storm since 66 now they say it may miss us and we could be looking at only a couple inches. I'm cool with that, lol.
Re: Back into the Deep Freeze we go
We are suppose to get some this afternoon into tomorrow. I think they say we may get 3-5". That's 3-5" more than I would like to see, I had my fill last week.

Re: Back into the Deep Freeze we go
It's starting to snow here now, but nothing too bad yet. They are saying between 15-25cm of snow, but hopefully they are wrong.

Re: Back into the Deep Freeze we go
no snow here, just sun and balmy - NOT. It was 27 earlier, now down to 20 and wind gusts that are unbelievable. But there is no snow. And there is sun.
good luck to all who have more digging out ahead for them.
