Well that is really rare from what I've heard, it of course is a generalization. In pregnancy anything is possible and everyone is different.

Re: Ouick! Need Morning sickness remedies
Lucky, I was just reading how they tested the heartburn/hair connection expecting to prove it wrong and instead found that it was remarkably accurate. I wonder what it is about growing hair that causes heartburn?
Re: Ouick! Need Morning sickness remedies
I have to disagree, didn;t work that way for me. The only time in my life I have had heartburn was while I pregnant with Rylan.... he was so bald that he still is 15 months later, lol Saige on the other hand had a full head.
Re: Ouick! Need Morning sickness remedies
Here's another one: my mom wouldn't let pregnant women in her garden. I forget why, lol, but remember her telling my cousin in law that she didn't allow pregnant women in there. Seriously.
I also remember as a kid riding along with neighbors while they searched for clumps of dirt for the pregnant wife. We went out to where there were some local farms. And I remember her eating Argo starch.

LOL! I had never heard of this and had to do a search on it. This is what I found, seems to be a cultural thing:

Re: Ouick! Need Morning sickness remedies
wow, Lucky. That article had a somewhat antiquated point of view. We haven't been called Negroes in decades, lol. I am surprised at Time for using terms like "slums" and such.
Yes, doctors have determined these practices are based on low levels of minerals in the body. They had said eating dirt comes from a lack of iron.
However, my neighbor had about 9 healthy, rambunctious children!

You know I craved ice with Quinn, but I never considered it a non-food craving.

That explains my craving for chalk the regular white chalkboard type. Honestly, I don't think there is any thing in chalk that is good for you and I'm not giving in to that craving. I just eat a regular tums and it does the trick.
Still dealing with nausea, lemondrops help. I now have killer headaches so I am drinkng more water. I never had any of this with my first, so suprised at how different the pregnancies have been so far.

If the headaches keep up, call your Dr. They can be a sign of high blood pressure, which would not be a good thing for you or the baby.

Re: Ouick! Need Morning sickness remedies
Well, I didn't have morning sickness but my poor girlfriend had 9 months of it with both of her pregnancies! YIKES! She said that she had saltine crackers and water on her nightstand and each morning before getting up she ate a few crackers and drank a little water that seemed to help. Sorry I can't be of much more help! It's all worth it in the end though!

I had PICA as a child, from a blood disorder that left me anemic.
I ate chalk, paper, and peeled the lead paint off the walls for a snack! lol
To this day one of my favorite scents is wet cement.
I was really glad when I learned in nursing school that my weird snacl obsessions were actually a disorder with a name!

OMG Beachy! I love how wet cement smells... as well as wet dirt. I used to eat dirt as a child and I still eat paper - I'll eat the paper stick a sucker comes on if nobody is looking. And I still have to take iron if I want to donate blood, and have struggled with anemia, especially in my teen years.BeachyBum wrote:
