Quick Cure for fever blisters

I have several LARGE fever blisters on both my top & bottom lips.
I'm using Abreva but it's not working fast enough & I don't want to go to a doctor for a Zoverax prescription.
Does anyone have any suggestions for home a home remedy or over the counter product that will help?

Then when you're at the hospital for your severed ear drum you can mention the fever blister. LOL

Yep earwax, preferably your own supposed to work well. I don't know....but I have heard.

By a product called Carmex. It's very inexpensive like $.99 - 1.29. It will burn the first time, but it gives such relief after that. It can be found in most any grocery, drugstore usually near the register. It comes in a squeeze tube, kinda like lip balm, or in a small tub. I prefer the sqeeze tub. It's more convenient to carry in a purse, and you don't have to contaminate the container scooping out of the tub. Good luck!

A tea bag. one hta thas been steeped, but don't burn your self. hold it on there for a while.

does earwax really work, cause if you guys are kidding i am going to really mad when i put earwax on my lip and it doesn'twork.

I'll have to get some Carmex in the morning & I'm steeping a tea bag right now.
The ear wax thing...um.... I might not be reporting back on that one.

My sister swears by earwax, but it has to be your own, not someone elses.

carmex hasnt worked for me for years.

I am NOT being a smart ass. And I know it sounds gross. But I get coldsores AWFUL. I am talking about them going plumb up to my nose. I have scars. and about 6 months ago my SIL told me about that, Since it was 9 at night, and I had no abreva, the tube had been thrown away by a helpful kid that thought it was empty and didnt realize taht with that stuff you break OPEN the tube and wipe it out till it shines, (16.00 in town plus a 40 mile trip to get it, so I wasnt getting any) and I had one that was killing me.

I tried it.

I was amazed.

Then the next time I felt one coming on, I tried it again. it never even came to a full blister.

So, yes, I swear by it.

But I also taught my kids to pee on bullnettle, and put horse medicane on my kids diaper rash

Pee on bullnettle and jellyfish, earwax on coldsores, hemmy cream or horse medicine for diaper rash....or Bag Balm, which is technically cow medicine....yep, it all works.
and Armadillos will give you Leprosy.

Scar, this isn't quick, but it'll help.

Ice the cold sores.

Did you get them cuz you were at the beach ? I get them when I allow sun to hit my lips. I always have a tube of SPF 30 lip balm with me .......

Erin, My mother in law called me the other day about something, and when I asked what the kids were doing she said "chasin an armidillo".

I reckon if they ever caught it they would let it go pretty quick. They will tear you UP.

She said they chased it for ever out in the field. She told them a few times to quit, they just ignored her so she fiqured if they caught it they would wish they hadnt.

I was putting the SPF 30 lip balm on AND spraying my whole face with SPF 50 for babies…still got them. BUT I’ve been dealing with several other fever blister producing issues too and I’ve been primed for the Herpes simplex virus flair- up for a couple of weeks in addition to being in the sun..
It was the perfect storm for a bad breakout:
stress + menstruation + sun exposure = 1 yucky nasty mouth covering blister.

That’s the same way I get them Chelle…when I found Abreva (at first it was by prescription only) I thought all my blister problems were over. A friend of mine is a drug rep/sales person; she gave me a bunch of Abreva samples. The first time I had to buy my own I was like WTF??? You damn skippy I cut the tube open and use every tiny little bit Now that’s not even working very well.(I know I didn’t wait too long to use it because I had the tube in my purse at the beach, I knew there was a chance I’d break out)



I put a cool teasbag that had steeped in cup of water on it last night; that helped the pain and swelling I had been icing it off and on all day yesterday too.
I still have monster lips this morning….*sigh* it was worth it to go to the beach.
