Woman Sues VS over Thong Injury

A Los Angeles woman claims she was injured by her Victoria's Secret thong, prompting her to sue the underwear manufacturer.

The plaintiff in the case, Macrida Patterson, 52, attributed the May 2007 injury to a Victoria's Secret "low-rise v-string," according to a court document posted on The Smoking Gun.

Patterson's lawyer told The Smoking Gun that a "design problem" caused a decorative metallic piece on the underwear to fly up and hit Patterson in the eye while she was putting the underwear on.

Patterson's product liability lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court last week.

The Smoking Gun reported that, prior to the lawsuit, officials from Victoria's Secret had asked to see the offending underwear but were refused by Patterson's lawyer.

While I think that's insane, I also think that if I was injured by simply putting on my underwear, I'd be pretty pissed at whoever made them. I wouldn't sue. But I'd be pissed.

okay, I know that if I tried to put my fat butt in panties too small, and managed to pop a peice off, that would be like a projectile going at 300 miles an hour. It would be like trying to put a balloon over an orange. and when the balloon broke, it would fly..

When I was pregnant this last time I had some panties that had little elastic bands on the sides, about the size of a G string, I shouldnt have tried to get them on. BUT I did. when it popped it hurt like hell.

But it was my own fault for trying to sqeeze into panties 2 sizes too small. I didnt want to wear the granny panies. The pants were low cut (I wore a long shirt. you NEVER saw my belly.) but could this also be the case?

A case of someone needs money and is looking for a reason. This happened last year too. Either took her that long to not have a lawyer laugh her out of thier office, or she realized she needed the money real bad.

Do we know how she was putting them on? Perhaps she was at a party and wearing them on her head...very close to the eye ya know.

IDK....I do know that the article states that she wouldn't let VS see the panties....seems a wee bit mysterious to me...I think she just had a big ole booty, and didn't want to face that fact......Though, theres nothing wrong with that...cause I have one...but I do embrace it..HAHA

The strange thing about the McDonald's coffee case is that that's the one everyone remembers, but in reality she was seriously burned. I read about it years after the fact and she had 2nd and 3rd degree burns on her thighs and pubic region. 3rd degree burns means that the skin is burned through completely and even charred. She had to be hospitalized and get skin grafts. But all the news shows made her seem like a greedy idiot.

I agree with Scar- the under wire is more of a problem- people are so "sue" happy, aren't they. I would be too embarrassed about the panties- cause I bet its like they were way too small to begin with. Only another woman would recognize that!

Yes and I'm pretty top heavy so finding a bra with no wire that fits good is a PITA.

I don't get the whole thing thing, I wore one when they first cameout. I rode my motorcycle from Tuscon to LasVegas when I finally extracted that little piece of fiber from my hiney...I said never again!

Very true... I think skin grafts to her girl parts entitled her to everything she got.
Now the ass who wanted a million for his lost pants...... or the even bigger asshole who decided to sue god because he was upset that a woman brought forward a case ( he called it frivolous) because the judge in her RAPE trial refused to allow words like rape and force- basically wouldn't let her say what happened. That judge should have been thrown off the bench. As a woman I would like to see him castrated and the stupid lawyer who thought the judge was right, along with him.

Yup, like in some muslim countries, where they will only prosecute rapists if the rape was witnessed by nine upstanding male leaders of the community. As if any rapist would attack in front of witnesses... or as if upstanding male leaders of the community will just sit back and watch someone be raped. Of course if that's your idea of justice, maybe you would.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against muslims. I have a problem with those specific countries / laws / ideas. Personally I think just about every group on the planet has fucked something up. You can group by race, religion, political affiliation, gender, intelligence, or shoe size. Each group will still end up with lots of good people and a few abominations.

I had no idea it was that serious!!! I wouldn't want to make light of a serious injury like that.

As far as thongs go, I don't wear them (tmi?). I don't find them sexy. I find them wedgie. And apparently, they aren't safe either? lol

I did jokingly tell my granny one year to buy me some thongs, when she got the tradtitional undies Bday gift( everyone got undies, whether you needed them or not). And she did, white cotton thongs.....I never wore them.
