New BeeLog Post
The Last Word on Shaloha
Posted by joec
May 30th, 2008
Answering questions on the BeeLog is a bit like eating PEZ (or is it Pzz?) out of a bee-shaped dispenser: As soon as you gobble one little candy (or answer one question), another slides up the cartridge to take its place.
The challenges with using a publishing medium (such as a blog) as a chat tool are significant: questions beget questions, responses are lost in a sea of comments, and for every broad answer someone has a personal exception. In other words, using the BeeLog for Agent Q&A just doesn’t work very well.
So we made a decision: We’d let the new rewards system speak for itself. And we’re sticking to it.
We asked you what you wanted for our new rewards platform (on the BeeLog, over email, through polls, in telephone interviews and face-to-face focus groups), and then we worked really hard to develop solutions that met the most important requests. The two elements that were requested by almost every Agent we discussed this with was:
A greater variety of rewards (the opportunity to get lots of things!) and;
An unlimited inventory so that rewards could be had anytime, regardless of campaign involvement
The new system might not be flawless, but it certainly meets those goals. As we’ve noted, there’s plenty more to come as well, including additional reward opportunities and a new ranking and tiering system to help you get into more campaigns. In other words, you talked and we didn’t only listen … we acted.
Some of you love the new system. Others don’t. Some of you are taking a wait-and-see approach. That’s all we ask. Give it a chance.
There is more planned, and we are excited to share those enhancements with you. For now, this will be the last communication about Shaloha — let’s focus on the future!
We hope all of you find value in the new rewards program.
We hope it makes your BzzAgent experience a fulfilling one, and getting into campaigns remains the primary reason you join our program.
If you can’t bring yourself to try it out, or just don’t like the rewards system, that’s ok, too. We understand and we hope you find a system that rewards you in the ways you wish.

Re: New BeeLog Post
Okay, I've been checking MP to see what I can get with my 7864 points. It'll take a little work to get the $50 GC. I don't mind the wait and see aspect of the new program, hoping the new campaign AND the new system will work fast, lol.
Actually, I was hoping with nearly 8000 points I could get a new external DVD drive but somehow the sites with the tech thingys don't have any in the price range that 8000 would help with. I mean with that many points I only want to end up paying $20 at the most out of my pocket and that includes shipping.
Anyway, I digress...
Joe must have been totally worn out by the fray over the rewards site. That last sentence says a lot...

I agree with Joe. The decision has been made and we must adapt. I commend him for his stance

Re: New BeeLog Post
I think what it says is, "the contracts have already been signed so you're stuck." At least it's an answer this time.
Re: New BeeLog Post
This is exactly how I thought they would handle it. It says like or lump this is the deal. If you are real unhappy, then leave. I am not thrilled about being talked to like that, despite my not having any big issues myself. I know many people do and I don't like the attitude of the Hive. It really doesn't surprise me though.
I think they could have said things in a bit nicer manner, but it sounds like Joe is pissed that everyone isn't happy, because afterall, they gave us just what we asked for

I have a slightly different view. I think that Joe did a great job and I liked that post from him. I thought it was a little late in responding and I thought that they should have responded sooner but whatcha gonna do? I love being a bzzagent and will continue to do so. Adapt, I will. It is not as if they poked me in the eye...oh wait, that was one of Rebecca's pitchforks.

Re: New BeeLog Post
I can understand everyone frustrations with the transition to the new system. However
I work for a company that has 14k employees and when we merged with another company
and didn't find out what company it was until the upper management came out with a
news alert and basically said we are merging with XYZ company and thats the way it is.
Once the paperwork is signed, there is really nothing that you can say or do that will
change what has already happened. The points are already converting, the partnership is done. I understand that people will love it and other people wont. But all any of us can do is hope that the problems with the conversion slowly go away and once the new system fully into effect things might look a little brighter.

Sounds rather like what I might say to a child- BECAUSE I SAID SO!
I have decided to wait and see how it goes- I will certainly redeem the initial points caused I worked hard to get them. I still want to Bzz, but will wait to see what other changes happen. I am at least glad he posted.

Re: New BeeLog Post
Perhaps Joe is just a bit dissapointed in the way some bzzagents have been conducting themselves. On both sides of the camp..the likes and the don't likes, well many have been acting like 2 year olds having a tantrum because they can not have a lollipop for breakfast.
I think he responded RATHER well considering the rude behavior of some people. He did better than I would have.
Just sayin...
I don't think that he could have said anything to make everyone happy, and a smart person realizes that.
I think I have said this before, we are NOT employee's, we are volunteer's...they only thing they 'owe' us, is the chance to test some products for free.
That's it.

Re: New BeeLog Post
It just seems a little mean-spirited at the end. I don't appreciate that, and I am pro MyPoints. I guess I can leave? I'm embarassed for them. If a potential client reads that beelog, and the initial Shalala one, what would they think? BzzAgent itself doesn't seem interested in any negative feedback (dare I say constructive criticism) from it's bees, yet when bzzing it's encouraged. Am I the only one who's confused?
