Just watched a clip about foods at the Texas State Fair... deep fried butter ! gross... they also mentioned things like deep fried peanut butter cups inside cocconut macaroons, deep fired twinkies, snickers, and some other really really weird concontions, oh yeah, deep fried banana split... We're talking instant heart attact, or gallbladder attack...

Um, it's all good, except for the macaroons..coconut ICK.

The fried cheesecake is quite awesome.

Actually, I have eaten in Restaurants up north, in Michigan, kentucky, maine etc. Too bland, really, ya'll should be more adventurous.

thats fair food... we have that even in Southern California. I haven't been in a few years, but each year there's a new item thats been deep fried! its definitely not something to be eating every day, but the fair only comes once a year, so its so worth it and very tasty!

Right now its at the Houston fat stock show. Just wait till the San Antonio Fat stock show comes around. It will be there Smile

and yes, deep fried cheese cake is... well basicly, its heaven on a plate. seriously.

Deep fried pickles, cucumbers, green tomatoes-- all of that is great too.
I am with Erin on the macaroons.. not big on them. But the peanut butter cups.. that .... ummmmmmmm......
Honey, in the south, we fry EVERYTHING. LOL

I dont even eat Squash, brocolli, califlower, okra, or zuchini unless its fried. Smile But yep, if you got a dish, bring it to Texas, we'll either fry it or put hot sauce on it and make it 10 times better ;-)

heck, as we speak Bow and I are eating a microwave Burrito that I fried and put hot sauce on. LOL this kid can DOWN some hot sauce!!

Chelle, as I read you're post, I'm thinking you're going to say deep friend mac & cheese! such a southern dish (I don't mean deep fried but just a staple in the diet - ugh!). But I do love deep fried pickle chips, zuchinni and yes, even green t'maters! Green beans deep fired aren't bad either. But butter hunks? Give me a break!

I think peanut butter would be better fried then butter would... matter of fact, I have been thinking about seein if I can deep fry me some peanut butter every since I heard this story Smile

Nope, it doesn't work. You CAN fry a frozen reeses cup though.

our deli at walmart used to sell deep fried corn on the cob too. It was SOOO good.

The macaroons with PB actually sound good! Our fair was offering deep fried pb&J sandwiches this year. I've never been brave enough to try the deep fried anything other than corn dogs and french fries!
