Ummm.... not sure if I like it much yet.

There's SO much traffic here (doesn't ANYONE work in this town?).... and I've gotten bitten by so many mosquitos it's horrible.

Then, what they say by "Everything is bigger in Texas", well, they truly stand by their slogan b/c so far I've found TWO HUGE cockroaches in my bathtub (like 3-4 inches long!). Never have seen one that big before.

But I like our house. That's it though. Had to say goodbye to my parents Sunday night, and that was a very sad night in our home. Hard crash back to reality for us and that we're alone in this big city now. Sad

LOVE Bluebell ice cream! Out of ice cream though....

Thanks for the tip on the mosquito killer... will DEFINITELY try that out. I'm sick of scratching my legs.

And, if anyone wants to ever meet up who lives around me (hint, hint!)... fight the traffic!! Smile

I agree with Chelle, Thermacell or a Mosquito Deleto, depending on how much you want to spend, mine does an acre.
Welcome, just in time for Gustav. If the hurricane nears TX, the traffic will get alot worse!

Seriously, don't eat banana's, they attract mosquitoes. Take a Multi B vitamin supplemtn, they won't bite you. Get a thermacell, or a case of off. We have mosqiotoes horribly here, don't dare open the windows, they will rip the screen off and carry you away.

LMBO @ carrying me away!

I'm off to find my Vitamin B's .... I've got THAT on hand.

Didn't know about the banana's..... but then again, I'm the only one who gets bit in my family. They never touch my DH or my girls. Wonder why..... and DON'T say it's because "you're too sweet". That jokes gets old. ROFLMBO

literly, because you are wearing something that smells good. Or your natural body odor (I knew a girl once who smelled like fresh bread, all day every day.... LOL ) attracts them.

We used to have skeeters here that were more picky, and only bit certain people. Now everyone is fair game. there are so many of them they just swarm and attack. I have sat with in a few feet of my thermocell and not had a bite all night, gotten up and walked 15 feet away to go in the house and got bit about 8 times.

Of course skeeters are not really a bad thing down there. They are there, but right now its just cause of the rains last month. They are not always that bad there. Usually there is too much of a drought. Smile

Just watch out for fire ants if you dont have them at your old home. They are a PITA

They may be getting bit but not be as allergic as you are. I used to get driven crazy but this summer has been wonderful because even though they bite, it doesn't itch bad because of getting allergy shots.

I didn't even think of it being an allergic reaction to their bites.... interesting!

I usually don't wear perfumes or anything sweet smelling, as I figured that would attract them if I went out.

Heck, I'll have to wear a bounce sheet around my jeans if I have to, if this nothing works. Smile

I find that Lemon or Rose Geranium do a great job at keeping them away (the plant, not a oil or anything). I know there are other natural herbs that you can use as a spray that work miracles too! LOL!

Hopefully you will find something that works soon. I'm only REALLY allergic to them around my ankles. I've never been able to figure out why. If I'm bit anywhere else, it's gone in a day. On my ankles it can be weeks or more! UGH!

Now that is strange, because the only ones that have bothered me this summer have been on my ankles. Maybe it's because the skin is thinner there and there are more blood vessels close to the surface?

I have Citronella Grass, Rosemary, and Mosquito plants( yes there is a plant called that) planted all around my porch, they really do help. Besides, rosemary smells good, and I can cook with it.
