Re: quilting again?
I need to make another table runner. I made one last week, and my friend loved it, so I gave it to her.
I need them for end tables, night tables, and dining table.....can't decide on colors though. I am gonna do raggy ones though. I like them and they are easier. I am probably going to use Homespuns, I like them best.

I love homespuns too, and raggy quilts always look so inviting and comfy, like you are supposed to curl up in front of a fire with them, I like them a lot too..

Re: quilting again?
I love quilts. I have been saving scraps of fabric for years, but never seem to get started. Maybe this will inspire me. I always sleep with a quilt too. I can't sleep as well with any other type blanket. So when I travel, I usually take my own pillow and quilt - esp to hotels!

Re: quilting again?
I was just thinking about the quilts I have used over the years. The first one was handmade by an aunt of mine. I switched from that one, when my Mom gave me one as a gift. That one is still have, but the one I sleep with now was my Mom's. She died in 1999 and I brought her quilt home with me. It feels like a little part of her with me even now.
Quilts are just so special and beautiful, it is great that several of you are making them. I belong to a board for people I went to school with, and a lady there is always posting her beautiful quilts too. I just love it!

Re: quilting again?
It's great that there are some schools that are doing a good job of teaching and encouraging quilting and other hand crafts. Last year my neighbor's granddaughter was all excited about a quilting project (for a quillow) in her middle school. I took one look at the very poorly written handout instructions and knew there would be problems. Sure enough, the class was given very little time to work on their projects and even less one-on-one coaching. The result was my friend's GD ended up with a project so poorly done she refused to show it to us, AND she is now totally turned off at trying any other. What a shame!
Meanwhile, I'll see if I can put together the beginnings of a list of magazines and patterns to offer to whomever wants it. I'll probably start a new thread when I have it ready in a few days, then let the games begin.
If any of you are interested in counted thread work, I've got three freebies on my website that you can print out. Look for the freebie link and go from there. I haven't updated my site in several years, but it's on my ever-growing to-do list.

Re: quilting again?
some of the pieces are a little off, but I was very impressed with how well Wynonna did on this, it turned out very nicely, she still has to put it together and tack it and then hand sew the binding ... I just wanted to post the top since she finished it..

Re: quilting again?
That is really impressive, especially when you consider her age and experience level. She did great!
Re: quilting again?
Pretty! I have nothing but men here, so I never get to do pretty stuff. Is it a Split Rail Fence variation?

Gorgeous quilt. I wish I had time to work on stuff like that. I have done several tops, but never got them finished. I have them packed away to work on later.

Re: quilting again?
It was one of a few versions of a rail fence pattern that was in one of the teachers books. I made a copy of the pattern so that I would have it to put away for when I have time to do some sewing. This pattern is one that I would love to make in a variety of fabric colors.

Re: quilting again?
Thanks everyone, she has almost completed it, she is in the process of tacking it, and should have it done and the binding sewn on sometime next week..she's already thinking about what she wants to do for the next project...I think we will be going to raid my sister's fabric stash..
