The Dreaded Flu
My father got it first, somehow passed it on to me.I've been sleeping 2-3 days non-stop.Haven't been able to eat.I think I lost about 10 pounds in water weight through dehydration and one pound in fat lol

Re: The Dreaded Flu
a friend/mom down the street from me has posted that both her little ones (7 and 4) have been diagnosed with flu.... isn't that a rather wrong time of the year for flu?
feeling any better... see you're posting on FB

Re: The Dreaded Flu
Oh no, that really stinks! We've been really lucky this year. DH usually gets sick once, to the point of not being able to work. And yes, sleeping all day. I thought we were safe and the flu season was over, but maybe not? Did you get a flu shot last fall? I vaguely remember getting one at Walmart on a whim.

Re: The Dreaded Flu
I never get the flu shot. It's only about 60 percent effective at best but my father gets one,and he still got sick.I'm feeling better, the fever broke at least,I just feel a little queazy, still hard to eat anything spicy, even though I didn't have nausea or diarrhea, just from not eating for a couple of days I guess

Re: The Dreaded Flu
Hugs! I got it last year when I was pregnant. I was out and hospitalized.... but was told by the Dr. that last year's strain was newer so even if I had the flu shot, it wouldn't have work on the strain I inherited from my son...who got it from preschool.
Drink plenty! Don't worry about eating...just drink. I think that's the one thing that either makes you better or breaks you down.
Hugs again!!!

Re: The Dreaded Flu
I think I got the flu in March... so it was weird too... Here, March is in the 70-80s so it was odd to get the flu with summer-like weather.
Anyhoo...can anyone bring you food or Gatorade? It's Saturday...rest up....hopefully there's nothing you need to be today.

Too funny. It's great stay-in-for-movies day. Rent Quarantine (2, not 1...1 was bad... 2 isn't that much better, but better than 1). haha

Re: The Dreaded Flu
I hope you feel better!
Is it a cold or a stomach bug? I always get confused when people say they got the flu because what we call the flu and what is actually the flu is two different things.

Re: The Dreaded Flu
Thanks Jess! it's not a stomach bug.I'm actually feeling a lot better already. I had fever, body aches, anorexia(loss of apetite, not the disease) and lethargy.

Re: The Dreaded Flu
the flu would be what you had...or influenza, which is what the flu shot is last year's most popular flu. But I hear a lot of people(I shouldn't have used we in the previous comment...but rather a lot of people) say they have the flu when they have a stomach bug.
My old roommate was a nursing student and she explained the dfference once. Like when you get the flu shot, its only one strain of the flu and when people still get the flu, its just a different strain.
