Re: Happy News
Ok this is a long and convoluted story, but I will just be brief cause yall don't want me to bring this happy thread down. I was so excited and am looking for someone to share this with, so here goes. For years my friend has been trying to get her daughter back from foster care (no they are no always right when they take kids but that is another story). Last week I sent the girl a care package. The state is saying that the package came from a place so much deeper than love, they are now talking to my friend about returning her daughter! I am on cloud nine here, even my mail box getting run over isn't bringing me down

Re: Happy News
Thanks Scarlett I t is nice that you understand what I mean.
A funny thing about the box I sent the girl, it had a purse in there she really wanted. She called me and said she was jumping up and down over the purse because she had been wanting it. I had no idea. It was a Dickey's brand purse that I got in a random deal from Yak Pak. I paid $10, plus shipping, for 3 random bags. The other two bags I sent to my friend, her hubby and baby. She had the same reaction, you sent the perfect bags, how did you know? What could be better, a random deal that gives them just what they want and imprsses the state enough to give the girl back? That was just one thing in the box, but I am just blown away that it impressed the state so much. Dang I have been sending her packages like that for years, they just never saw one of them before.

I think it's great and you should be giving urself a nice pat on the back for several reasons!! For caring/making someones day/making the difference w/the state.. and most importantly.. putting a smile on someone's face.
GO YOU!

Re: Happy News
At one o'clock this afternoon my daughter, Amy Catherine, Married Thomas Davis on the beach on the island of St Lucia. They were attended by good friends Tracie and Angie and and are even now, as I type sipping champagne and celebrating the continuation of a relationship that somehow brought two very opposite seeming people together as soulmates.
I am happy.
I am happy.
Re: Happy News
Honey that story is so heartwarming! You should write Dickies a love letter and tell them what a difference that one purse meant. They would love that!
Chelle, does BzzAgebt ever do contraceptive device campaigns? You'd fit the demographics I bet. LOL
Great news Kath. I hope they live Happily Ever After!
My good news is that I got bad news from my dad that he had to run my grandmother in the hospital last night. Good news is I called her and she's doing fine and is at home. I told her I'd get down to visit her tomorrow (it's a 2.5 hour trip one-way so I don't get down often enough). And I'm making vegetable beef soup to bring her in a Ziploc Twist 'N Loc container.

Re: Happy News
Oh, Kath! It is a good day isn't it. I'm so glad I started this thread.
And on a completely unrelated note, I have mini horses in my yard today. The guy who's leased a corner of our farm for them is letting them mow for me, LOL. They're so cute, especially because I don't have to take care of them. And I'm enjoying watching them out the window as they scare my poor dog. (She's used to cows, not horses, and she's sure they're strange deformed dogs. Meanwhile they ARE used to dogs and are trying to play with her.)

Re: Happy News
More good news! My mother-in-law called and told us that she is retiring. She's a teacher and has debated this for a few years. It was a hard decision, but now that she has made it, she is very happy about it. She had some health problems recently so I am relieved that she will be able to relax and spend time with the kids and not have to push herself so hard.
Re: Happy News
Thanks for starting this thread Karen. It is really nice reading all the good news.

My good news is that I got 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep today! It may not seem like much, but after the terrible sleep I got yesterday it feels great! One more night of work until I'm off until next weekend!

My good news is I finally found a full time job....oh wait...is that really good news? Well my poor ole bank account thinks so.
Re: Happy News
I am glad for everyone's good news! It is nice to hear that everyone is blessed with some good news in some way, shape or form. And the news just seems to get better with each post! I hope that everyone's day gets better from here on out!
I don't have good news, just a sense of slight accomplishment. I have been trying to potty train my STUBBORN 3 yr old, and we are halfway there! Just a few more kinks to work out! PHEW! I have to send him to pre-K this summer and my goal is to have him completely trained before then.

Re: Happy News
Congratulations, Brandy! What wonderful news! I hope you enjoy it.
Missy, as a mother of a stubborn 3 yr old myself, I don't just think that's happy news, I KNOW it. We're doing the same thing at our house.

Re: Happy News
My good news to myself today is that I have finally gotten out my summer clothes and finished washing and ironing them! I also changed the beds from winter to summer bedclothes and put on my new quilt...
I prepared and froze a couple of meatloaves and made stuffed peppers for tomorrows meal.. They are sitting in the crock in the fridge, waiting to be popped in the cooker tomorrow.
AND
Now I have the afternoon to relax and read or?
