Princess and the Frog
Okay, so I got a cake order for the Princess and the frog.
I have NOT seen this movie. have NO clue about it period.
I have my basic design worked out. But I'm trying to decide what to do after that.
I am making a pond, and putting lilly pads on it.
My kids said that on the commercials it looks like the princess turns into a frog too. and I think I got that off something I read on the 'net.
I cant do a princess, and am not even really sure I have the time to do a frog. They want it Saturday. I will be gone ALL day tomorrow taking Rayley to the zoo. And I have to go to the garden today and Hoe. Its over an acre and a half. thats ALOT of hoeing.
Because my stupid ass husband was in SUCH an allfire hurry to get the corn in the ground he didnt disk enough. I am having to do extra work. I cant plow DOWN the rows only beside the rows with the tractor.
PLUS, I have to go and get the ingrediants to make a strawberry cake. Thats what this little girl wants. aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggggg. I was JUST In town last night. Matter of fact the phone was ringing for the order when I walked IN the door.
ANYWAY- Is the princess turning into a frog a major part of the movie? I 'thought' if I had time, I would make 2 frog fiqures, one a prince with a crown, the other frog a princess with a tiara.
IF I cant get those done, it will just be a pond with lillies and cattails and thats it. That was all I told her I was going to do anyway.
BUT her BFF is a photographer, who will be posting pics ALL over facebook. SO if I can make it a little fancier, I will. If time allows.
Anyone wana come and run this house and farm while I play with fondant? LOL
Is there anything else in the movie and is makeable with fondant or gumpaste? I honestly havent even seen a trailer for it. and with dial up, I cant...

Re: Princess and the Frog
Chelle, all I know is that it's the first Disney cartoon featuring a black princess. It's set in Cajun country so I would love to see it just for the music. (And there are gators in it). It's Disney's take on the Frog Prince, but I can't tell you the storyline.

Re: Princess and the Frog
its basically the classic Frog Prince story... Prince gets turned into a frog and needs to kiss a princess to change back. Thinks Tiana is a princess and convinces her to kiss him, but she turns into a frog too because she is not a real princess. Then they both work together to get changed back and eventually they do and live happily ever after...in classic Disney Princess style. There is also a trumpet-playing alligator and a Cajun firefly.
Its actually a pretty good movie...
imdb.com should get you any more info without having to watch a trailer.

Re: Princess and the Frog
I only have a minute, I saw it, it was cute.
yes the princess (who is actually a poor waitress not a princess until the very end) turning into the frog was the biggest part... the rest of the movie is spent trying to become human again which doesn't happen until the very end. Two frogs an old blind zoodoo lady, a musical gator and a firefly are the main characters.

Re: Princess and the Frog
I was so proud of Disney for (finally) having a black girl as a main character.
Re: Princess and the Frog

I haven't outgrown it and doubt I will, lol. I still love Disney movies Bedknobs and Broomsticks is my all time favorite and Sleeping Beauty is my favorite fully animated one : )
Re: Princess and the Frog
I'm a big fan of kid's movies. But Disney sometimes drives me crazy with the killing off of the moms.
Re: Princess and the Frog
I used to love Disney. before I ever had kids, when I was in 8th grade I started collecting the movies. I never even watched most of them.
I collected them all through High School, then after BR and I married we still did. Had every one that had come out till we got a DVD player. Then we started collecting them that way. We had them lined up in the kids room and 85-90% still had the plastic on them when the house burned. LOL
I have bought a few since then, but mostly PIXARs. I love the movies, but honestly, am starting to not like Disney the company very well. Of course, thats just me and I dont agree with most of hollywood. And they tend to put their views into the movies alot.
Unless we just LOVE a movie, I tend to wait till they come on HBO or maybe throw them in with my netflix offer instead of an educational movie. LOL

Re: Princess and the Frog
I don't buy them, Chelle, but I like seeing them in the theater or renting. The only movies I own are LOTR trilogy and Harry Potter. Oh, and DH and the boys have the Star Wars movies. And Ferris Beuller's Day Off.

Oh, and maybe you should get in a big stock of all flavors of cake mix and other ingredients, like those you need for making fondant. I think you're starting to take off with your cakes. Keep posting them on Facebook and word will spread like crazy.

Re: Princess and the Frog
Thanks girl, and your not kidding! LOL I had JUST went to hobby lobby and walmart in Lufkin and got a few tools to sculpt too. cause I wanted to see if I could. And I was gonna get started on Matts cake.
he wants a ground blind, and a pond. AND he wants a deer, fishing poles, AND the family fishing. I am nixing the family fishing and the deer. Deer are the hardest animal in the world to make. and I aint good enough for people. LOL But I will try to make some poles. Cant promise them. The ground blind, I can do. with a gun leaned up against it *MIGHT* be possible. I might buy a deer to put on it.
the sad or funny thing is, I had just brought in 10 boxes of white cake mix. cause I didnt want to be caught like I was on Easter with out my stuff. and they ordered strawberry. ROFLMAO!
Guess I need to keep 10 of each.
I need to make up a bunch of fondant. cause it has to sit out overnight before its easy to use.
I'm still working on my frogs, everyone that has seen them LOVES them. I am not happy with them. They were never going to look like the cartoon ones. I was just going for frog.
BUT I think if I can today at hobby Lobby I'm gonna get a book on making clay fiqures. that might help me.

Erin, here is a tutorial for the wings, butterflies etc. Its just gelatin that you let harden flat. then cut. it comes out SOOOO nice.. I did it on Rayleys butterfly on her princess pillow. Then I put vodka paint on it and sparkle dust.
