Crappy Day
Is anyone else having a crappy day? Or maybe a good day they'd like to share?
I had my car all packed up with recycleables (this is how we do things in rural areas - no neat little boxes curbside for us) so I went today even though it's 24 degrees, windy and snowing. When I get there, the last thing I put in the bins is paper. Someone had dumped a bunch of books in the bin. Nice, barely used hardcovers, mostly. I had no other choice but to stand there forking through them and carrying them back to the trunk of my car. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them, I just knew I couldn't leave them there to get buried by paper and eventually reduced to pulp. BRRRR OMG my hands were red and frozen and my hair was just a wreck. There was water dripping from the top of the bins onto my head.
Then I stop at Walgreen's to pick up an item I have a rain check for. For the second week in a row, the item is still out of stock.
When I got home I brought in the mail and I have a bill for $4,225.64 from a pharmacy that apparently supplies medications to the nursing home my grandmother is in. Last week I received a bill from them for $3,923.07 - the very first bill I've ever received for meds. I called the pharmacy and asked what the deal was. Grandma has insurance that covers medications. I was told that a revised bill would be prepared and mailed. I guess this is it.

Re: Crappy Day
I called the nursing home and they called the pharmacy again. I have a name, so we'll see if she follows through on clearing up the account.

Re: Crappy Day
Yikes! That's quite a bill! My day here hasn't been too bad. I'm pretty surprised to see it snowing outside again though -- I was actually outside without a coat at all just this past Wednesday!
Re: Crappy Day
there's something wrong there Lori. Believe me I know,I'm a pharmacist. Unless she's taking some rare investigational injectable or hiv drugs, something is majorly wrong.Do you know what insurance she has?

Re: Crappy Day
I agree, Chemo doesn't cost that much. I would find out what exactly she is being billed for, and I am betting they made a mistake.

Re: Crappy Day
also alot of times it is cheaper to get the prescription meds yourself from a pharmacy and bring it to them.Do you know how much institutions charge for 1 aspirin??

Re: Crappy Day
Yes, each drug is listed. It looks like they never billed her insurance, and these meds would go back to last May/June when we first got her settled in there. They seem to run $300 per month or so, based on what little information I have here. The pharmacy claims that they've been sending her a bill every month, but that's not true. We changed her address to mine immediately, so I get all grandma's mail, and have since last May. So what, 10-11 months go by and then they decide to bill me with a whopping 4K?

Re: Crappy Day
Crapo... she's got to be on medicare, yeah? That's just not right. DH is and when he had his gall bladder attack, emergency room/services were something like $800+ but he only had to pay $40... and his meds and followup imaging? even less.... so yeah something is wrong. Do you have power of attorney?

Lori, as for the books, what a nice rescue... donate them to your local library... they struggle so... Gosh I won't even throw away a magazine after reading, collect and take them them to my Dentist's office (they have such lousy subscriptions.... I should know. spend too much time there LOL)

Re: Crappy Day
Holy cow that's a high bill!
I've had a crappy week. No one died or got seriously ill, but a ton of really annoying things happened all week. The wiring in my stove caught fire and now Scott has the whole thing taken apart and spread all over the kitchen. The fire was contained to the stove and no damage to the house but I haven't been able to use anything in the kitchen for 4 days.
I took Zoe and Quinn to the playground after school one day and when we stopped at the bathroom so Quinn could go potty she asked if she could play hide and seek. I was busy helping Quinn with his clothes so I said yes, thinking she was going to hide in one of the other stalls. Instead she left the building, went outside and walked 50 feet away to the play area and hid inside the top of the climbing structure and didn't come when I called. I was about to call the police and I was sure that she was no longer on the playground (and probably in some stranger's car) when I found her. She was fine but I was a wreck.
About a half dozen other things like that happened too. I bounced a check, lost my car keys, had trouble with Quinn going through a clingy phase, lost phone service, had computer troubles unrelated to the phone service,... the list goes on. Nothing major, but nothing is easy this week.

Re: Crappy Day
Karen what a hell of a week, from Zoe (how scary that must have been) to the stove to the losing of the car keys and everything in between... I would have walked away and never turned back (sorry)

Re: Crappy Day
Thanks Dee. I'm deciding that 'next week' starts today and I'm determined to enjoy it to the fullest to make up for all the crud from last week.
Re: Crappy Day
Yep, a very crappy week, Karen. I hope your weekend goes better so you can get a fresh start next week.

Re: Crappy Day
I am off this coming week for a bone density test due to the shattering of my wrist. We have to travel near 3 hours to get there; teehee - it is a city. Costco, Walmart, finally a quarter pounder with cheese at the golden Big M.
Coupons in order, Walmart - here I come!

Not yet, Chelle. I'm going to give them a few more days. It has to be quite a mess.
