A friend had been there before and she wanted to go back, but her husband didn't want to go so she invited me to go with her.

Nice! A few of my friends go to Cuba every year and say they love it! I've never been, but if I were to go south for a vacation I think Cuba would be where I'd go.

Is it still illegal for Americans to go there or did they lift that restriction? Can you at least buy Cuban cigars in the US yet?

It is still illegal for US citizens to engage in travel related transactions with/to Cuba. So no Cuba for us.
