Spring Break Empty Spring Break

Post by thebigscott Fri Mar 27, 2009 11:35 am

The kid's break starts this afternoon. I'm not sure what we're doing because it's crappy weather all week and we can't leave town. Scott's a teacher but in a different school system and his break is the week after theirs. But I am looking forward to having some fun, somehow.

You guys doing anything special?

Ours is the week after Easter. Which is nice, hopefully it will be a bit warmer then and Rylan will be better so we can get outside and do stuff.

Devon's was last week. The weather wasn't great and he had the flu for a day or two, but we did manage to do a few things like go see the tundra swan migration at the bird sactuary near here, go to a local garden center that also has a mini farm for the kids (funny thing is that as much as the kids like seeing the animals, they get more excited when I tell them they can each choose one plant to grow at home!), and we went to a local site of an Indian village. There's not much to see at the Indian village site -- just the mounds of dirt where the pallisade wall would have been, but the weather was nice that day so the boys could run around like mad men and they had a blast.

Timmy's was this week. We spent the week getting things back on track. One day was spent in a taxi and then a bus all over town. He goes back to school on Monday and there is supposed to be terrible weather here all next week.

Oh yeah... the truck. :-( Tim had gotten into an accident with it last month. He slipped on some black ice, flew over a ditch and narrowly missed 3 trees. The insurance company deemed it a loss. So, now we are without a truck. And in the whole mess of this, he lost his job. :-( So, he is now out and about applying, while I am online applying for us both. Since he has the warehouse/factory type experiance, and we live in a town full of them, he went to apply at a few that are actually just down the street.

I lost the net shortly after the accident, so I never got a chance to update with what was going on with me. Hoping we find at least a junker now since we can afford to have payments on a car. Luckily, the insurance company covered everything and they paid off the truck for us, PLUS, we ended up with money. Using that and some other reserve cash for something, anything we can find.
