finally
heard nothing for forever because we were waiting for the buyer of our house to recieve a power of attorney paper that her husband sent her..it never did come. But the bank somehow found a loophole around it and after being stagnant for so long all of a sudden I get a call today and they want to close on the sale of this house tomorrow! The buyer won't be moving in until Apr so we have time enough to ask for a closing date on the house we are buying and then get moved out of here and into the new house..thank goodness!!

Sweet! I'm glad it's working out and you'll soon be in your new place. You must be so excited!
Re: finally
yay!!!!
I always thought power of attorney was something that was set up before a deployment.

Re: finally
Thanks everyone! I am VERY excited..I can't wait and am looking forward to the new house and getting to know the neighbors..it's on a nice quiet street in a great part of town..huge flat back yard...
They did have some type of power of attorney in place but it wasn't sufficient for her to sign in his place for the house loan paperwork..

Re: finally
Well, as of tonight I am sleeping in someone elses house..lol. We had closing today and the buyer has agreed to let me stay here until we close on our new place. We will probably have closing next week and be moving on the weekend. If you don't hear from me for a few days it's because we disconnected our internet and have to set it up to be reconnected in our new house.

Re: finally
Is it just me, or did this happen very fast? LOL Great time to get settled into your new home, though. This is the time of year that I get the bug to paint, wallpaper, etc. Sometimes it seems easier to just move.

Re: finally
Waiting for closing on this house seemed to take forever lol....but yes Lori, it did happen quite fast didn't it? I had to look back at my first post about the offer to buy my house and how that got us looking to buy and that was January 12th..!!!
Now everything is a mad dash, but I am glad for it. And yes, it's the perfect time to move, shortly before the big beautiful Flowering Crab tree on my front lawn is ready to flower..that should happen in April or May..I will be able to open the windows on nice days to air out and clean each room systematically after I move in.

Re: finally
We should be moving out this weekend..closing is Wed, and we have to wait for the paperwork to be sent to the registry of deeds in Houlton and that should take one/two days at the most..we should be getting the keys sometime on Friday. I don't know when we are disconnecting our phone, DirectTV, internet, etc here..or how long it will take to get it set up where we are going. We are going to bundle cable, cable internet and digital phone in town because we can get cable internet there (we didnt' have cable internet here because cable doesn't come out this far) . So we will have to set up a day where they can come hook up whatever needs to be hooked up..so if you don't hear from me for a few days..I'll be back soon..lol

Re: finally
maybe you'll be an expection to the rule and get your TV and internet up and running as early as next week.... my Sister uses TW in NC and when they have issues, they seem to be out within the day or next for service calls... so who knows? Have you begun the dregerous (sure that's not spelled right, but since I don't think we have spell check just know I mean "yucky") task of packing boxes?

Re: finally
I'd have a hard time with no tv or Internet too. I'd be at McDonald's with the laptop or at the library to use the computers for my Internet fix. Not sure what I'd do about keeping up with my tv shows. Maybe if I was moving I'd be so busy I wouldn't notice much. Wishful thinking.

We got our keys the day our house closed too. As soon as the bank got the money into the lawyer's account they called us to pick up our keys. We were also lucky in that we knew the previous owner here so he let us stack boxes in a room in the basement that he had already cleared out.
Re: finally
Congrats how exciting!
I have never heard of not getting your keys at the closing. That is really strange to me. We have always been told it is yours the second you sign the papers so you better have the insurance in place in case it burns down right then

Re: finally
Yup Erin, you were right..I finally nagged Kris to call yesterday and the soonest we can get cable, phone, cable internet hooked up is the 22nd! I am going to be without internet and TV starting either tomorrow or Fri until the 22nd. We won't have our landline phone either, we do have cell phones, but will only be able to use those a little bit because we don't have unlimited minutes. I think we have something like 1200 minutes shared a month on our phones and JJ talks to his girlfriend 3-4 hours a night on our landline usually. We will be happy to get into the new house, but I won't know what to do with myself without being able to even just check my e-mail or the UB Board, facebook, etc..and no long phone conversations, or television.. Funny how dependant we become on stuff like that isn't it? Well I guess I will just be a major crab for a week and have to check my billion e-mails and messages when I get back..

Re: finally
Even worse, they just contacted Kris to cancel the appointment they made because the owner has not cancelled his service yet, so they won't even give us an appt date now until his is disconnected. My luck, he takes a couple days to cancel it and by the time we end up calling to get another appointment, they will end up giving us an April date...grrr...
